General Services Division is a dynamic agency comprised of Capitol Facilities Management, Real Property & Leasing, Surplus Property & Recycling, and State Print & Mail.State Print & Mail (SPM) is seeking a creative professional to join their team as the Preflight Manager. This role reports to the Operations Manager, collaborates with three other managers (Production, Mail, Document Services), and supervises a team of seven people including a purchasing specialist, design specialists, customer service reps and bindery operators. The preflight team oversees orders in the shop end-to-end. As the face of SPM, this team sets the standard for customer service. Customer service reps receive and initiate orders, technicians facilitate purchasing and design files for production, and bindery operators review orders for quality assurance before they’re delivered to the customer. Responsibilities of thispositioninclude: · Assign and monitor all work performed by team · Keep track of jobs to ensure none are overlooked, behind schedule, or overdue · Balance workload between staff members · Communicate with peer managers and leadership about all incoming work to help regulate work capacity in the production schedule · Coordinate project details and job status internally and externally (customers, vendors, etc.) · Train and mentor employees, and document all changes to processes, systems, and software · Consult and advise employees and customers on current processes and printing efficiencies · Correspond with customers regarding any problems, questions, or concerns · Identify, develop, and implement workflow and process improvements · Understand and troubleshoot design · Mentor staff using software such as Fusion Pro, BCC, Avanti Slingshot, Adobe products, Ready Print, a PDF merger etc. Responsibilities of theteaminclude: · Handling incoming requests from customers · Strategize with customers to determine their needs and advise them on products and services to meet their requirements · Create accurate/timely estimates and job tickets and follow up accordingly · Prepare layouts according to the exact job ticket specifications using the proper systems, processes, and software programs · Provide graphic design services ranging from small brochures to rebranding efforts (You can learn more about the SPM teamhere.) What are we looking for? * *__Education and Experience: · A bachelor’s degree inBusiness, Communications, Graphic Design, or related field; AND o It would be great if you have graphic design experience, but don’t let your lack of that keep you from applying! · 2 years relevant print production experience with demonstrated leadership ability; OR · Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
