Provide hands-on Technical Leadership and direction for Enterprise Quality Engineering organization. Champion Quality Engineering (QE) principles of shift-left, customer-centricity, automation, and continual improvement to advance product development. Drive the creation and adoption of automated testing to facilitate innovation, quality, and speed to market. Partners with vendor and internal Marriott teams to provide leadership, strategy, and orchestration of key testing events to ensure that quality standards are consistently met. Provides expert guidance on test environment strategy, setup, and configuration. Coordinates with product teams and other Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET’s) to collect KPIs and metrics in-line with QE guidelines. Collaborates with platform teams to ensure tools required for testing conform to standards and help implement new solutions as required. Work with product teams to ensure integration / end-to-end test cases are identified and maintained. Serves as advocate / representative for selected business units to the QE organization.
Expected deliverables to include: Design and build of QE Frameworks, Technical solutions, Quality Engineering Strategies, Test Strategies, Test Implementation Plans, Jira Initiatives, Epics and User Stories, presentations to Senior Management, and Marriott internal deliverables including Associate Performance Management materials.
Education and Experience
10+ years of Technical SME Architect experience with a blend of deep technical knowledge and a customer-focused mindset
10+ years’ experience in software development, test engineering, with expert-level expertise in multiple testing methodologies
10+ years’ experience engaging highly technical architecture, engineering and operations teams and driving outcomes with QE automation
Excellent verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
Experience with DevOps tools (e.g. Git, JIRA, Ant, Maven, Jenkins) and Test Automation
Experience in financial management of budgets and cost estimations
Undergraduate degree in an engineering or computer science discipline and/or equivalent experience/certification
Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, and influence appropriate courses of action
Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities
Strong knowledge of emerging tools, software, applications, and systems for attaining best-in-class IT technology across the enterprise
Technical certifications (i.e., PMP, CSTE, CSQA, Certified SAFe)
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Primary Activities and Key Responsibilities :
Provide technical leadership and strategic direction to the QE organization.
Design and build new generation testing frameworks for enterprise grade distributed applications.
Work closely with service provider Architects and review their designs for automation solutions.
Evaluate and provide recommendations on different tools and technologies for frontend, middleware, and backend applications.
Develop Quality Engineering strategies and standards, including KPI’s and Metrics for regression and performance testing for development teams.
Educate Product teams on QE best practices and assist them in their adoption.
Coach product teams in implementing QA and QE practices in a SAFe Agile environment.
Evaluate current QA or QE process in Product teams and drive them to conform with established standards.
Work with Product teams to ensure integration/end-to-end test cases are identified and maintained.
Devise QE solutions for CI/CD pipelines in public cloud or hybrid infrastructures.
Understand application architectures and recommend solutions for end-to-end testing.
Engage with other QE staff to deliver high quality testing solutions across the organization.
Assist in the evaluation of QE-related vendors.
Collaborate with QE tools architects/engineers to resolve issues and recommend improvements.
Conduct POC projects on emerging QE technologies and drive them towards adoption in the organization.
Mentor QE staff and assist in developing curriculum for staff upskilling.
Mentors and coaches QE team members who work with product team members on Quality Engineering tasks and procedures
Communicates to Application Development leaders opportunities to improve quality
Establishes the flow of work within the Quality Engineering area
Creates best practice quality procedures
Reviews and edits product and process documentation
Provides leadership and support to Quality inspections
Functions as escalation contact for Product teams and SDETs
Performs complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for delivering automated testing processes and tools
Negotiates and directs the implementation of enabling tooling such as Tosca, NeoLoad, Cucumber, etc.
Facilitates CI/CD using the DevOps pipeline
Validates solutions with enterprise architecture team
Facilitates achievement of expected deliverables and obligations of Service Providers
Ensures proper coordination with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams
Coordinates with Operations and Infrastructure teams for deployment and production support activities

Advises team on debugging aids available for environment.
Prepares testing schedules and documents expected results.
Facilitates the scheduling and performance of testing activity, submitting errors/issues for correction.

California Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $110,550.00 to $245,238.00 annually.
Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $110,550.00 to $222,943.00 annually.
Hawaii Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $133,766.00 to $245,238.00 annually.
New York Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $110,550.00 to $245,238.00 annually.
Washington Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $110,550.00 to $245,238.00 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and restricted stock units/stock grants. Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
