Meta Product Communications Associate Manager, Messenger in Helena, Montana


We are looking for an experienced communications professional to join our fast-growing team. The role will manage a broad range of product communications efforts with a focus on promoting choice and control as well as delightful experiences in the Messenger and Messenger Kids apps. This includes planning and execution surrounding product launches, major announcements and events, issues management, and ongoing strategic counsel. This role will work alongside our product, engineering, design and marketing teams to land our choice and control product narrative and activate new ways to reach consumers, key stakeholders and press. The person in this role will also support team operations including creative asset creation, coverage reporting, newsroom management and weekly reporting.Messenger is one of the fastest growing apps in the world – over 1.3B people globally use it every month. Messenger Kids is leading the industry to provide kids with a fun and safer way to express, create and communicate.The successful candidate will be highly experienced at operating in a fast-changing environment, devising and executing multiple media campaigns, handling issues and crisis management, possessing deep media relationships, and working with executives. An ability to translate complex new developments into everyday language is required. A keen understanding of technology and social networks, as well as knowledge of how messaging environments intersect, is essential in this role. The ideal candidate will also be proactive, creative and highly organized.

Required Skills:

Product Communications Associate Manager, Messenger Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and execute communications strategies and campaigns that help educate global tech, business and consumer press on Messenger products, including choice and control features

  2. Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, marketing and the broader Meta PR teams to build, understand and communicate Messenger products and policies clearly and effectively

  3. Develop communications plans, pitches, and messaging materials

  4. Build relationships with tech press, bloggers, analysts, influencers and other external stakeholders about core products and initiatives

  5. Manage in-bound press inquiries and support issues management communications

  6. Maintain Messenger Kids social media presence (Facebook, Twitter) and oversee community moderation

  7. Support team operations including weekly reporting, coverage reporting, newsroom management and creative asset creation

  8. Work closely with external agencies to lead proactive and reactive programs

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of communications experience

  2. Bachelor's degree in business, communications, English or related field

  3. Effective communications, decision-making and project management skills

  4. Experience working with diverse cross-functional teams, including engineering, product and marketing, in fast-paced and ambiguous environments

  5. Proven relationships with press and external stakeholders and experience organizing press briefings, media roundtables and events
