Helena School District # 1 has openings for a School Aged Child Care (SACC) Para Educator. At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a SACC Para Educator, you contribute to this mission by assisting the SACC Site Manager in the overall operations of the daily program activities. You will work as part of a team of 40 serving 125 students on 11 campuses across Helena. Some of what you will do:

  • Provide careful and effective supervision of children’s activities as assigned by the site manager. Circulate among children, redirecting individuals into positive play and by pointing out alternative activities.

  • Assist children in maintaining standards of appropriate behavior and health habits established for the program by using non-punitive disciplinary methods and positive reinforcement strategies as demonstrated by the site manager (refer to Assertive Discipline Guidelines).

  • Cooperate with other program staff to create and maintain a harmonious and efficient environment.

  • Interact positively with parents and refers appropriate questions and concerns to site manager, including but not limited to: payment, scheduling and discipline questions.

  • Perform clerical (attendance sheets) and housekeeping duties as assigned including but not limited to: snack preparation and clean up, project preparation and clean up.

  • Oversee the appropriate use and storage of equipment and materials.

  • Provide support in planned activities such as field trips, visiting resource persons, etc.

  • Maintain a safe and orderly program environment.

    To become part of this dedicated team, you need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;

  • Experience as a licensed or registered group or family day care provider or day care center staff preferred.

  • An age qualification may exist for licensure.

    The successful candidate should have the ability to successfully work with children K- 5. Successful applicant must possess the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accomodation. Entry level salary range is $14.80 to $18.33 per hour depending on education level and applicable relevant work experience and includes a generous pro-rated benefit package.
