State of Montana Senior & Long Term Care Division Administrator (14001) in Helena, Montana

* *The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Senior and Long Term Care. The Senior and Long Term Care Division (SLTC) addresses the needs of Montana seniors and others needing long-term care. The SLTC Division plans, administers, and provides publicly-funded long-term care services for Montana’s senior citizens and persons with physical disabilities. In addition, the division provides education and support regarding aging and long-term care issues to Montanans of all ages, including the increasing number of younger people living with severe disabilities. SLTC manages payments to Medicaid funded nursing facilities and home and community based services programs manages programs for seniors under the federal Older Americans Act; provides adult protective services for vulnerable senior citizens and people with disabilities; manages the state supplement to federal SSI payments system; and plans for and educates the public about long-term care issues and services. SLTC serves four key groups of people: 1) Senior citizens who are in need of or who are planning for long term care; 2) People with serious disabilities who are in need of long-term care (the exception are people with a primary diagnosis of mental health or developmental disability who are served through other divisions); 3) Baby boomers who are helping their parents as they age or are planning to meet their own long-term care needs in the future; 4) Seniors and disabled individuals who have been subjected to abuse, neglect, self-neglect or exploitation. * * Why Join DPHHS * * Our mission at DPHHS is to serve Montanans in their communities to improve and protect the health, safety, and well-being, and to empower independence. Qualifications for this Career Opportunity * * * Knowledge of public administration including the legislative process and management of programs with statewide impact. * Knowledge of the methods and theories for long term services and supports people who are aging or disabled and the laws regulating these activities. * Knowledge of the programmatic and financial intricacies of Medicaid and federal grants. * Ability to use program data to illustrate programmatic activities and expenditures. * Ability to manage multiple and competing high-profile, sensitive, or controversial issues. * Ability to develop and implement innovative and unconventional approaches to challenging situations. * Meet minimum qualifications: o Bachelor’s degree in business, public, hospital, or health administration; human services; health-care services; or a directly related field. o Seven or more years of senior-level management and supervisory experience of large programs with substantial staff and budgets and specific experience with Medicaid or Medicare. * o Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis if the applicant has an unrelated bachelor’s degree. *Preferred* * * o Master’s degree in business, public, hospital, or health administration; human services; health-care services; or a directly related field. o Five or more years of senior-level management and supervisory experience of large programs with substantial staff and budgets and experience with Medicaid or Medicare. * * * *How to Apply To be considered for a DPHHS position, submit the following required documents with your application on the State of Montana Careers website.
