Summary:

The Sr Mgr Cust Intel Data Insights oversees the customer data governance program and makes all every day decisions. The Sr Manager manages and facilitates Governance Council meetings, meets regularly with Business Segment Working Groups, and supports the development of plans to resolve data issues. This position is responsible for leading the definition and management of data quality definitions and rules. Work closely with the data stewards and data owners to implement data governance policies and carry out the data governance function. Works across the enterprise with all business units. Responsible for facilitating decisions that will help improve customer master data quality at Ryder by facilitating discussions amongst data governance council members.

This person should have an interest and an ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and have the experience to both develop the solutions, primarily with SQL, as well as to work with IT partners for larger initiatives. Also, this individual will play a central role in the ongoing development of a greater data infrastructure including sourcing and vetting new data streams and enhancing and enriching existing data sets. The Senior Manager must be adept at working across the organization with key partners in the business units, Marketing, Sales, Information Technology and Executive Leadership to drive successful outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with the owners of the data domains to understand and develop the data governance strategy.

  • Responsible for communicating the strategy to the data governance organization and adjusting the data governance program to align with the strategy.

  • Review and approve business plans developed by Business Data Stewards for evaluation by the Data Governance Council.

  • Leads working groups which evaluate the impact of data-related issues and assists them in determining the best solution to resolve those issues.

  • Creates and manages the priorities for Governance Council meetings. Ensures the right items are brought up at the right time to the right audience ensuring efficient decision making.

  • In this role, the position leads people, spearheads changes to processes and standards, and manages upward. The Data Governance Lead spearheads changes to processes and standards by leading an issue resolution process whereby data-related issues are resolved and the improvements to the data governance program are made.

  • In this role the Sr Manager determines both the priority and impact of the items that pass through the process.

  • The Sr Manager lead reports to the owners of the data domains to set expectations and provide updates on accomplishments, progress, and next steps.

EDUCATION

U.S.\Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science..

U.S.\Master's degree MBA preferred

EXPERIENCE

Ten (10) years or more experience leading teams (ideally business and IT teams).

Five (5) years or more experience relevant experience including data management or related areas.

Three (3) years or more experience in data governance, data architecture, reference data management or related areas.

SKILLS

  • Ability to implement data processes and standards to ensure high quality data

  • Ability to define and document business process flows and data standards

  • Ability to serve as an escalation point for issues regarding data quality and process implementation

  • Organize, motivate, and provide direction to a group of people to achieve a common goal

  • Ability to lead working groups to resolve data issues

  • Ability to work with several Business Data Stewards and communicate Data Governance decisions across the broader organization

  • Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and problem solving skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of management and across business and IT groups

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and collaborative skills.

  • Ability to conceive and internally develop concepts and ideas

  • Comfortable and effective with issues that lack clarity, structure or certainty

  • Expert level SQL skills

  • Strong Business acumen

  • Strong understanding of Data Architecture and most importantly deep understanding of the overall data in an Enterprise and the ability to understand data in the context of business goals

  • Advanced knowledge of complex query writing using SQL with the ability to join multiple tables, summarizing, grouping, data manipulation, performing analytical functions, etc.

  • Comfortable presenting at all levels of the organization

  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices

  • A strong sense of urgency and commitment to get the job done quickly and with high-level of quality

  • Strong entrepreneurial nature

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

KNOWLEDGE

Project management experience (capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously); intermediate level.

A level of data acumen to be able to understand data integrity issues and facilitate their resolution; intermediate level.

Knowledge of databases, structures, and data management; intermediate level; preferred.

Compensation Information :

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc.

Compensation ranges for the position are below:

Pay Type :

Salaried

Minimum Pay Range:

$145,000

Maximum Pay Range:

$155,000

The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type.
