Job Overview

We are currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and experienced individual for the position of Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), supporting our R&D team. This role provides a unique opportunity to serve as a strategic financial partner for our R&D programs and supports efforts from discovery to early and late-stage clinical development. The position will provide financial, operational, and strategic leadership in a matrix reporting environment with multiple stakeholders across different finance and R&D groups. Through insightful understanding of the pharma business, the Senior Manager, FP&A will be responsible for providing financial guidance on key business decisions, delivery of financial commitments and ensuring optimal deployment of capital.

The individual must have the ability to work independently and as an effective and engaged team member in a fast-paced environment. Strong initiative and follow through are essential for this job.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the R&D teams to provide business counsel and financial leadership to optimize strategic investments and cost efficiencies.

  • Develop accurate and timely quarterly financial forecasts, annual budgets, long-range plans, and expense tracking of assigned clinical programs and functional areas.

  • Maintain lifetime study plans in alignment with the program teams and clinical development plans.

  • Provide detailed analysis, and proactively identify risks and opportunities to the forecast, and regularly communicate findings to the leadership team.

  • Deep understanding on standard financial processes such Purchase order (PO) management and invoice accruals/matching for budget management.

  • Work closely with the accounting team and ensure the complete, accurate and timely processing of the monthly close process.

  • Develop / maintain a strong partnership with the other R&D and Finance colleagues to develop and share best practices.

  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of the financial statements and compliance with SMPA policies and procedures, maintain strong internal control environment.

  • Advise team and actively engage in investment decisions through understanding of the research and development strategies and cost drivers.

  • Basic understanding of R&D to support successful investments and activities.

  • Ability to present results to multiple levels of the Corporate Strategy and Finance organizations in a clear and concise manner.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, especially related to financial system integration.

  • Experience using financial forecasting software such as Hyperion, SAP, and Oracle

  • Possess a basic understanding of valuation principals, to include discounted cash flow.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, or a related field of study with successful experience as finance business partner

  • Minimum 8 - 12 (w/o Master's) or 6 - 8 years (with Master's) years of relevant experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry

  • Experience should include budgeting, forecasting, planning and analysis for a global organization.

The base salary range for this role is $144,700 to $180,900. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state. Our robust time-off policy includes unlimited paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and each year thereafter. Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills, education and other factors permitted by law.
