ICF provides environmental planning, policy, permitting, and other services to clients. We prepare Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) and Environmental Assessments for complex and often controversial projects nationwide, including energy, transportation, and other infrastructure projects and regulatory programs. We manage environmental review processes that include consultation with regulatory agencies; public involvement; analysis of environmental, cultural, safety, socioeconomic, and other impacts, and specification of measures to mitigate adverse impacts. Our clients include numerous federal, state, and international agencies and private companies.

ICF is seeking a Senior Project Manager for National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) projects to support our Mountain West region. Position is based in our Mountain West region with the opportunity to work remotely.

Our staff work on the most current and important issues facing the nation including renewable energy projects and management of land use, water, recreation, and other resources. Staff in this position may provide a range of services including:

  • Federal, state, and local permitting and compliance for renewable and traditional energy, land, transmission, and other projects in compliance with NEPA, and other regulations.

  • Land Use planning for federal agencies.

  • Management of technical services including biological surveys and studies, air quality analysis, noise impact assessments and other resource-related studies across a range of disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Successful applicants to this position could initially be responsible for managing preparation of EISs for energy and federal land use planning projects, or for other Federal agency NEPA support. This involves planning and completing major project tasks related to the development and delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services for complex and high-profile EISs. Our senior NEPA managers work on multiple projects, interact with all levels of staff, and will apply their academic and past work experience knowledge to a wide variety of complex projects. You will work directly with clients and senior staff, as well as internal and external experts in their field of expertise.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in natural or physical science, public policy, economics, environmental management, or related subjects.

  • 10 years of environmental consulting or related experience (for government or private sector clients) with clients in the natural resources, energy, transportation, and related infrastructure and federal market sectors.

  • Experience managing the preparation of NEPA documents, with preference given to managing EISs for Federal land use planning and energy projects.

  • Experience with developing and maintaining project schedules, and budgets.

  • Ability to understand and digest highly technical information.

  • Business Development and proposal preparation experience preferred but not required.

  • Experience working for or with Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, US Bureau of Reclamation, or other Federal land management agencies preferred but not required.
