Job Summary

Looking for an opportunity to expand your healthcare leadership experience while up-skilling in the latest industry standards? Humana is searching for an experienced leader to leverage their previous healthcare experience to assist in enabling Humana’s Enterprise API strategy and directly accountable for the strategy and direction of the Enterprise API Catalog and associated API's as the Senior Product Owner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, design, development, deployment, and overall success of Humana’s Enterprise APIs.

  • Lead and design product value streams within the EAI organization.

  • Define and implement common API standards across multiple teams to ensure a consistent developer experience.

  • Stay abreast of API industry trends to influence internal API strategies, including adopting new frameworks, styles, or technologies.

  • Partner with business leaders, customers, and partners to elicit, understand, analyze, document, refine, and communicate business needs.

  • Evangelize the API strategy and standards to internal teams to secure organizational buy-in.

  • Coordinate with other Product Owners and Product Managers to align API maintenance and improvement with internal business requirements.

  • Manage and collaborate with a team of developers to ensure product requirements are met.

Customer Advocacy & Design Thinking

  • Act as the primary customer advocate for the Enterprise API Catalog, ensuring strategies align with customer needs to drive adoption.

  • Employ design thinking to define the future state of product design, maintaining a customer-first mindset to visualize and design optimal experiences.

  • Project Management

  • Lead multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful delivery.

  • Define priorities for new API product development to ensure the team focuses on the right initiatives in the correct order.

  • Measure success by designing and developing product functionalities that support innovative solutions.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field

  • Master’s degree strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of technical experience, preferably with a focus on API development and management.

  • Proven experience in IT, with a strong technical background.

Skills & Expertise

  • Solid understanding of the healthcare domain with expertise in critical healthcare product areas.

  • Fundamental knowledge of key API concepts to define and design foundational API contracts.

  • Ability to research and gain strong business domain knowledge to design the to-be state.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of all phases of the API product lifecycle.

Personal Attributes

  • Customer-first mindset with the ability to visualize and design excellent user experiences.

  • Strong leadership and project management skills.

  • Learning mindset aligned with recent technologies and innovation in the API space.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing cutting-edge technologies in the API space, including API gateways and net new integrations.

  • Non-traditional product ownership experience with a focus on recent technological advancements.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$94,900 - $130,500 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
