RES Service Manager Solar in Helena, Montana

Summary:

The Service Manager - Solar manages the team of mechanics, shop aligned and site/field-based, and is responsible for oversight, direction, troubleshooting, diagnosing and high-quality repairs on heavy equipment in a field/shop environment. This position covers all equipment utilized on solar projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages routine maintenance schedules and communicates schedules for maintenance, repairs and utilization to Equipment Manager and field personnel.

  • Reviews third (3rd) party invoices to ensure repairs and costs are appropriate.

  • Partners with third (3rd) party suppliers to monitor repairs and ensure timely turnaround to keep utilization of assets high.

  • Oversees performance of and schedules basic and advanced mechanical duties, including trouble shooting, diagnostics and repair of equipment in the field, needs to be familiar with all makes of equipment utilized on solar projects with a primary focus on RES asset equipment, for instance, Vermeer PD 10 pile drivers, Utility Vehicles, Skid steers and Fork lifts.

  • Manages and coordinates Survey “hardware” equipment for the PD 10s -Stonex coordination with the site teams.

  • Performs electronic engine diagnosis and troubleshooting.

  • Reports productivity daily.

  • Coordinates maintenance repairs and 3rd party vendors with the onsite solar mechanics.

  • Operates Company vehicle in a safe manner to drive to various site locations.

  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.

  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Performs ad hoc job-related duties/functions and projects to support the Equipment Manager and Solar department.

  • Communicates with project site and operating group leadership on repair status and needs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge in solar equipment

  • Management of multiple direct reports

  • Experience with diagnostic tools, such as CAT ET Systems preferred

  • Ability to read and understand mechanical equipment specifications

  • Technical knowledge in operation and function of all previously listed equipment

  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues remotely and provide guidance to field service

  • Develop internal processes in line with industry standard service and maintenance guidelines

  • Excellent listening skills

  • Intermediate knowledge in:

  • Comprehending and following directions, verbal and written

  • Meeting work goals and deadlines

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.

  • Communicates regularly with direct reports on goals, accomplishments, and information on policies.

Qualifications:

  • High School/GED required.

  • 3+ years of heavy construction equipment experience with equipment relative to Solar construction required.

  • 1+ years of supervisory experience required.

  • Domestic Travel of 16-30%; valid driver’s license required.

Anticipated base salary range: $88,000 - $103,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
