Helena School District # 1 has openings for part time and full-time Sign Language Interpreters - Para Educators. At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As a Level I (Special Education) Para Educator, you contribute to this mission by assisting students’ daily training programs who need a little bit of extra help. You will work as part of a team of 70 serving 8,000 students at 18 campuses across Helena.
To become part of this dedicated team, you need:
An associate degree or at least 2 years of post-secondary education
Up to three (3) months of related experience and/or training;
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.
Who are we looking for:
Prior successful experience assisting deaf or hard of hearing students and an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher is preferred.
Certification in American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting is desired.
Entry level salary range is $16.01 per hour depending upon education, applicable experience and EIPA score.
