Oracle Software Development Snr Manager in Helena, Montana

Job Description

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.

The Java Platform Group is responsible for delivering the Java platform that is used by millions of developers. We are looking for an exceptional person to lead a team of compiler engineers to enhance and maintain the JIT compilers of Oracle's HotSpot Java Virtual Machine. This is a unique opportunity to join an exceptional team as we deliver new and exciting Java features to the world!

As part of the Java Platform Group you will have an opportunity to contribute to our success every day, by driving the Compiler team and working closely with SQE, Performance Engineering and other HotSpot teams to improve the functionality, quality, and performance of the JIT compilers for our regular JDK releases.

You will help build the future of the Java platform by driving the compiler team in providing new functionality, prototyping, stability and performance work for ongoing and future key JDK projects including Projects Valhalla, Loom, Panama and ZGC. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to guide the direction of the Hotspot compiler, JVM, and Java platform.
