The Role

Lumen is seeking for an experienced, mission-driven Senior Director, PMO—Strategic Programs to join fast pace Technology team. This person will work closely with Sales, Operations, IT, engineering, and product teams at Lumen. The person in this role will be a strong program manager, synthesizer and problem solver, with the ability to shift seamlessly between strategic, program management, and execution tasks. The ideal candidate is someone who can thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, and with an ability to partner, collaborate with other team and with an accountability for delivering business results. They will have a strong product, strategy, program and operations background. This is a people manager role reporting to the Vice President of Segment Engineering.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Manage & track technical implementation program across business, IT, product management and Engineering teams.

  • Work with the product management and engineering to define the product road map and strategy. Manage & track the program from the perspective of scope, budget, resources and timelines.

  • Define product metrics & OKRs to drive cross functional teams to achieve the success as per the metrics.

  • Ensure progress on priority workstreams, advise on the right strategy, deliverables, timing, etc. Assist on various ongoing strategic initiatives across the team’s core business pillar.

  • Help develop and implement product-development practices, particularly related to lean and agile practices.

  • Lead planning, strategy and cross-functional meetings.

  • Develop talent and build a thriving culture where people can grow in their careers and feel a strong sense of inclusion and belonging.

  • Be an amplifier across the organization – engaging, collaborating with stakeholders at all levels, crosspollinating thoughts and ideas with strong sense of empathy for our customers.

  • Partner with product and engineering manager to present product strategy, vision and status to all levels within the company including executives, business managers, technical teams and business partners external to the company.

  • Mentor and lead team of program managers and project managers.

  • Assist and communicate with executives in decision-making, program management, and initiative implementation.

  • Review, design, and execute improvements to organizational structure; find knowledge and skills gaps and help address them.

  • Improve current processes and optimize organizational procedures for efficiency and productivity.

  • Assist in effective program level financial operations and budget management.

  • Determine key performance indicators and how to measure team performance.

What We Look For in a Candidate

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent practical experience.

• 10+ years in program management, operations management, strategy, or product management.

• Strong understanding of Agile Scrum. CSM and CSPO certifications preferred.

• Experience leading cross-functional products & programs.

• Experience operating independently and delivering results in an organized manner.

• Experience shifting priorities quickly and acting proactively.

• Excellent problem-solving, program management and communication skills.

• Technical fluency; comfort understanding and discussing cloud technology concepts, experience. evaluating tradeoffs and new opportunities with technical team members.

• Strong analytical and experimental design skills.

• Strong business aptitude – be comfortable defining strategy, identifying and modeling business opportunities, and crafting and executing plans.

• Strong engineering aptitude – be effective at using your technical depth and the voice of the customer to partner with and earn trust IT and Engineering organization.

• Experience working in high-performing product teams, with a focus on cross-functional collaboration with focus on business outcome.

• Proven track record of success in an operational role where executive priorities are translated in to actionable plans that can be tracked.

• Executive presence and excellent communication skills Ability to navigate complex stakeholder management situations.

• Attention to detail across a broad range of contexts and topics Advanced Powerpoint, Excel and Word skills.

• Experience with Business Operations and Planning, Business Transformation and/or Management Consulting is a plus.

• Experience in organizing and directing multiple teams and departments.

• Experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Versatile abilities and extreme dedication to efficient productivity.

• Experience in data analysis and budget management.

• Consulting experience, with a focus on operations management.

• Nimble business mind, focused on developing creative solutions.

• Strong project-reporting skills, with focus on interdepartmental communications.

• The ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ experience in a similar role with a Bachelor’s degree.

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$171,447.00 - $228,596.00 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.

$180,020.00 - $240,026.00 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.

$188,592.00 - $251,456.00 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
