The Role
Provide technical direction and definition of Lumen’s Network as a Service (NaaS) implementation across a broad range of network and applications. This will require a strong understanding of Lumen’s Layer 1, Layer 2, & Layer 3 networks and products, a strong understanding of Lumen’s Edge Compute implementation, and a working level understanding of software development methodologies. This role will serve as a primary representative for a product’s implementation on the network automation platform in a cross-functional team and will be expected to be a thought leader in how network capabilities are componentized and exposed to both internal and external consumers to align to the Network as a Service vision and methodology. Will be expected to contribute to the definition of the customer experience and product requirements, translating product and customer experience requirements into specific network and application designs. This role will work across the network architecture, engineering, and systems development organizations to ensure alignment to the vision and experience. Will ensure delivery is coordinated across the broader cross-functional team. May also be expected to communicate vision and implementation with external audiences – customers, industry forums, etc.

The Main Responsibilities
Process feedback and requirements into key points and concepts to be implemented
Architect solutions for business problems which may be beyond ownership area and clearly communicate requirements, intent, and implementation details to technical and non-technical audiences
Effectively manage and deliver multiple projects in parallel while maintaining ownership of keys areas of responsibility across the organization
Indirectly influence the work of others to drive large projects from inception to delivery with successful completion and implementation of requirements
Coach and mentor others in the business processes implemented in the team's applications, services, and workflows to provide resolution to support problems
Effectively estimate the time it will take to perform tasks and influence the work to be completed within those timeframes, provide input/feedback to stakeholders and project managers for effective capacity planning
Scale solutions to meet enhanced requirements for growth, new services, or network optimization by applying approved technologies and architectures for enhancements/additions and provide for an economical means to complete the work
What We Look For in a Candidate
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent experience
10+ years of related experience in software development, systems engineering, and/or networking and networking automation
Experience translating product and technical network requirements into implementable solutions
Strong listening and communication skills
Strong coaching and mentorship capabilities
Strong understanding of network technologies including Internet, Ethernet, IPVPN, Edge Compute, and Optical transport
Strong Layer 2 knowledge of ethernet switching equipment and switching architectures used on Lumen’s Internet networks
Working level experience with protocols and standards used on Lumen’s networks such as BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, BFD, LLDP, RPKI, BMP
Strong understanding of Ansible, Python, and other network automation methodologies
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience as force multiplier in the way teams are lead through complex problems
Working Knowledge of:
Asynchronous programming concepts and distributed systems design
Continuous integration and delivery practices
Zero downtime deployment strategies

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges:
$129,639 - $172,852 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$136,121 - $181,494 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$142,603 - $190,137 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
