The individual in the Senior Institutional Insights Analyst role will operate as an analyst who delivers institutional insights in support of both external customer and internal teams supporting the institution. This role will play a key role in enabling customers to leverage learning analytics in ways that help support their institutional goal around student success and institutional effectiveness. Qualifications

The key accountabilities for the role include:

  1. Partner with Sales & Service teams to, scope, prioritize and perform repeatable analyses.

  2. Engage and discern what your Institutional customers business needs are within the scope of services available for you and the team to provide while providing tools and analyses to drive and inform strategic decisions.

  3. Work with customers, both external and internal, to develop lasting insights into complex questions through conducting cutting edge, creative analyses using SQL, R and Tableau with a particular focus on improved student outcomes and institutional effectiveness.

  4. Provide thought leadership across both internal stakeholders and external customers around how to best leverage learning data in support of critical and key questions supporting improved student outcomes.

  5. Work across departments and collaborate with various business units to create appropriate solutions.

  6. Identify information and visualization required to tell a compelling and meaningful story with the various data points available; establish baselines and monitor growth or decline in a multitude of metrics.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years’ related work experience, 3 years in a highly analytical or quantitative function.

  • 5 years of experience with SQL

  • Hands-on experience with leading commercial Cloud platforms, including AWS, Snowflake, and Google

  • Experience leading conversations directly with customers.

  • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and analytics techniques

  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment

  • Understanding of agile project approaches and methodologies

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strategic thinker, analytical, detail and results oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic. They are a highly motivated self-starter. This individual is an evangelist for learning analytics and has a deep understanding of the customers’ needs.

  • Strong understanding of effective report/dashboard design and standards. A passionate practitioner of effective data visualization. Familiarity with Edward Tufte or Stephen Few visualization practices and the Tableau visualization tool.

  • Strong familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification, and forecasting. Ability to handle ad-hoc analytic requests from raw data through presentation quickly, efficiently and accurately.

  • Strong familiarity and experience with tools such as: Tableau, Google Analytics, SPSS/SAS, R and other statistical and data delivery tools required.

  • Fluency with structured and unstructured data expressed through the ability to extract that data through SQL, HIVE/Hbase, Spark SQL, etc.

  • Ability to influence and inspire people indirectly, lead by example, engage and effectively build multidisciplinary teams and alliances, and facilitate positive change in a large organization.
