The Role at a Glance
We are seeking an experienced senior level engineer with advanced AWS expertise to join our dynamic team, focusing on platform management, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), observability, and infrastructure architecture. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience across these domains, with a deep understanding of AWS services and best practices. This role is crucial in shaping our technical strategy and driving operational excellence in our AWS environment.
What you'll be doing
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable, reliable, and efficient infrastructure solutions on AWS.
Develop and execute strategies for improving system observability, monitoring, and alerting for on-prem and AWS cloud solutions.
Drive SRE best practices across the organization, leveraging AWS services for incident management, post-mortems, and continuous improvement.
Architect and oversee the implementation of cloud-native solutions on AWS, including EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, and other serverless technologies.
Play a pivotal role in our ongoing cloud migration to AWS.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between AWS infrastructure, development, and business objectives.
Mentor and guide junior team members on AWS best practices, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
Contribute to capacity planning, performance optimization, and cost management of AWS resources.
Implement and maintain automation for AWS infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment pipelines.
Stay current with AWS service updates, new feature releases, and emerging cloud technologies, evaluating their potential impact on our infrastructure and operations.
Help provide expertise, guidance, and take the lead on the continuous development of our on-prem and AWS cloud HA (High Availability) and DR (Disaster Recovery) strategies.
Support and enable development teams with Infrastructure as Code using AWS CloudFormation templates and the AWS CDK.
Build automation pipelines to support automated testing and chaos engineering.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on our infrastructure and operations.
Creating and maintaining technical documentation for insurance-specific systems and processes
Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and actuaries to translate insurance requirements into technical specifications.
Develop strategies for gradual migration of legacy insurance systems to modern AWS cloud architectures
Staying updated with the latest trends and technologies in cloud computing, HA, DR, and SRE.
Creating auto scalability configurations, and rightsizing AWS resources to ensure the environment is optimized for cost and performance. Including knowledge of performance testing tools and methodologies.
What we’re looking for
Must-Haves
4 Year/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology or Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
5-7+ years of Insurance or Financial services industry experience
5-7 years experience in the following technologies:
Creating CI/CD templates, pipelines, schedules and extensive knowledge in DevOps & DevSecOps practice. Including experience with using AWS services (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy)
Utilizing a combination of the following languages: Chef, Java, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, SQL, TypeScript, Springboot, MVC, Maven, Gradle, Ant, React, Angular, NodeJS
GitLab, AWS, XL-Release, XL-Deploy, Docker, JIRA, Jenkins, Hudson, Repliweb, MoveIT, GIT, SVN, Bitbucket, Autosys, Bitbucket, Digitools, Bamboo, Confluence, SonarQube, New Relic, Splunk, ServiceNow, JFrog, AppD, Fortify, OracleWCS, Wiz, Twistlock, Oracle DB, MySQL DB, Sybase DB, JMeter, Quantum.
AWS high availability services (e.g., Elastic Load Balancing, Multi-AZ deployments)
AWS disaster recovery (DR) solutions and strategies (e.g., pilot light, warm standby, multi-site active/active) for on-prem and AWS cloud environments. Including conducting DR drills , improving recovery processes, and data backup and recovery technologies
Data center operations and infrastructure components (troubleshooting network, load balancing, content delivery networks)
Developing comprehensive unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests using TypeScript testing frameworks
Experience designing and implementing HA architectures in both on-premises and cloud environments.
Proficient in Source Code Management, Artifact Management, Branching strategies, quality gate checks and guardrail implementations.
Expertise in containerization technologies and orchestration.
Experience with on premise services and deployments to JWS and WAS servers
Experience implementing data migration scripts and tools for transitioning from legacy databases to modern solutions
Experience implementing and managing identity and access management (IAM) solutions
Strong background in SRE principles and practices

The pay range for this position is $105,301 - $190,000 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
