For more information about our benefits, please click here: State of Montana Benefits Job Overview:This position provides specialized technical support for the Social Security Administration (SSA) Disability program for Disability Determination Services (DDS). The primary responsibility is to coordinate scheduling of Consultative Examination (CE) appointments and specialized testing for disability applicants. Responsibilities include properly receipting medical records and invoices in paper and electronic correspondence into an electronic claims processing system; evaluating medical record and fee scheduling CE-related charges; and providing administrative assistance to Support Operations. *Major Duties or Responsibilities:* * CE Scheduling * Reviews CE orders for completeness and edits them when necessary to maintain accuracy. Selects physician, psychologist, or other health professional based on the exam type and the location where the claimant resides. * Coordinates CE appointments with health professional considering duration of appointment, claimant’s travel requirements, need for an interpreter, or any other appointment conflicts. * Coordinates traveling CE provider’s schedules based on the availability of the exam location(s) and duration of the CE provider’s exams. * Prepares orders for additional diagnostic testing and/or claimant funds for travel. * Documents calls and scheduling actions in the legacy system to alert the adjudicator of actions taken. * Processes work queue orders from disability examiners who request specific action on a CE. * Reschedules CE appointments at the request of the medical professional and/or the disability adjudicator. * Cancels CE appointments at the request of the disability adjudicator. * Coordinates video CE’s with SSA field office, medical professionals, and video room schedules. * Researches missing or incomplete reports at the request of the disability adjudicator. Technical and Administrative Support * Sends correspondence to medical providers, facilities, claimants, and representatives while adhering to confidentiality and security guidelines. * Receipts claimant correspondence, medical records, and representative evidence and scans records into the claimant electronic disability folder. * Receipts CE reports and invoices, checks reports for accuracy and completeness, and verifies appropriate signature requirements are met. * Reviews CE invoices to ensure exam reports are in file, verifies Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes, and approves charges and fee schedules according to established State and Federal guidelines. * Assists disability adjudicator and claimants by gathering supplemental information as needed over the phone. * Assists disability adjudicator with report follow-up calls, sends additional records to providers, and handles reminder phone calls. * Assists CE unit supervisor with medical and professional relations activities as requested. * Assists with answering incoming calls. Reviews the notes on the case to provide status, obtain information requested by an adjudicator, or answer simple questions. If unable to answer the question, routes call to the appropriate person. Physical and Environmental Demands: This position works in a typical office environment with extensive keyboarding and telephone use.
