Facebook Technical Program Manager, Central Integrity Capacity Management in Helena, Montana

Summary:

We're hiring a Technical Program Manager to join the Central Integrity team. As part of our mission, we aim to prevent people from having negative experiences on Facebook due to product or platform abuse, while protecting freedom of expression. We build large scale, complex systems and operate infrastructure to enable detection and remediation of content and behaviors that violate our Community Standards. We do this on a global scale across the full suite of Facebook products.This is an organization wide role driving analysis and decisions to allocate compute capacity across teams in constrained environment. The TPM will be a key member of the Capacity management group spanning CI and will work with representatives from each team/Integrity area, Production Engineering and CEA (Capacity Engineering and Analysis). TPM will also work with teams to identify and realize efficiency opportunities , including identifying common patterns of efficiency wins and driving work to turn this into tooling. This TPM role is very impactful in driving significant cost savings for Facebook. In 2020 H2, the efforts driven by the task force saved 2.8 MW of power (47.3M dollars). Integrity wins accounted for 15% of all dollar cost savings companywide and 50% of all UDB storage cost savings companywide.

Required Skills:

  1. Assist teams to proactively manage capacity crunch by communicating guidance and driving capacity requests

  2. Investigate investments that could help save capacity org-wide

  3. Partner with Engineering Leads to develop and drive execution of 6-month roadmaps

  4. Optimize program and process for CI teams to plan, request and manage their compute capacity

  5. Update CI leadership on capacity management status and issues via regular Capacity Reviews

  6. Provide visibility to CI leadership on capacity usage, constraints, cost, and efficiency

  7. Work with teams to identify efficiency opportunities that can be realized across several systems

  8. Represent the task-force in CI wide Agility/Efficiency forums

  9. Evangelize task force capacity and efficiency wins via posts and recognition in other forums

  10. Communication and driving resolution around capacity regression tasks

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience

  2. 4+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, hardware engineering, or technical product/program management experience

  3. Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products

  4. Organizational, coordination, and multi-tasking experience

  5. Analytical and problem-solving experience with systems

  6. Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones
