State of Montana Temporary Materials Lab Technician in Helena, Montana
* *Position Title: Temporary Materials Lab Technician TheMontana Department of Transportation (MDT)is recruiting for multiple Temporary Materials Lab Technicians to work approximately April through October / November depending on workload. These positions are responsible for laboratory testing of a variety of materials used in highway and bridge construction and maintenance to ensure compliance with project specifications and State and Federal regulations. The test results also provide information to design staff, contractors, and project managers on the development and application of materials. Technical testing procedures vary based on the specific section. Work consists of lifting equipment and materials that weigh up to 35 pounds, repeated bending and lifting, working in high temperatures around ovens and liquid asphalt, and working with chemicals and solvents. These positions report to the Lab Supervisor in the assigned section. No experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of laboratory testing protocols and procedures. * Knowledge of safety practices and techniques. * Ability to operate a variety of testing equipment, both mechanical and electrical.
