Zurich NA TPA Specialist in Helena, Montana
Zurich Insurance is currently looking for two TPA Specialists in Complex Claims. These positions may work out of Zurich’s U.S. based offices including posssibly virtual for the right candidate. This is a position that will oversee moderate to complex Liability claims handled by external TPAs on behalf of Zurich insureds and captives nationwide. This supervisory oversight position works with minimal direction at high authority levels on assignments reflecting a high degree of technical complexity. The position requires superior technical skills as well as product and industry knowledge and is recognized as a technical consultant and advisor both within and outside the company. The TPA Specialist analyzes coverage, evaluates exposure, seeks/grants authority, assigns/explains reserves, and assists/directs TPAs to resolve claims according to US Best Practices within authority limits.
The TPA Specialist regularly communicates with TPAs, TPA Ops, Corporate Law, Claims Legal, customers, brokers, BU representatives, and Senior Management around the global network to facilitate and ensure the resolution of a variety of liability claims including premises, product liability, auto, trucking, EL, dram shop, UM/UIM, PIP, and XS claims. The individual will be dedicated to specific accounts and will serve as liaison with Zurich’s BUs.
This position may also occasionally handle and oversee moderate to complex Auto, Liability, and possibly some IP claims on behalf of Zurich insureds and captives. TPA Oversight and International Programs knowledge and experience is preferred.
Additional Responsibilities May Also Include:
Self-starter able to oversee work and projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills and able to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Proven diary management skills and able to document claim files by accurately capturing and updating claims data/information in compliance with best practices
Experience with resolution of coverage issues, DTA, reserving, analyzing jurisdictional and service of process issues for lawsuits developing case defense strategy, and managing overall file direction and resolution on national basis
Able to direct and control legal actions and expenses, negotiations, and trial strategy on large casualty claims in accordance with Zurich Best Practices
Able to analyze complex coverage issues and interaction between laws of various states, recommend and implement strategies with 3 or more years of experience in drafting ROR and disclaimer letters on additional insured and contractual indemnity
Proven ability in coordination of coverage disputes and claims handling with co-defendants and other carriers
Able to effectively present complex information effectively and succinctly to senior leaders, BU and customers
Able to interface with large commercial customers, brokers, and underwriters to ensure good communication flow, risk insight, and trend identification
Experience with claim reviews involving underlying carriers, TPAs, and large SIR customers and ability in account claim service coordination and customer relationship management
Able to provide guidance and grant authority on complex large exposure GL claims
Able to explain deductible billing and reinsurance on GL insurance programs and able to explain the difference between SIRs and deductibles
Establish timely and accurate reserves and perform ongoing reassessments throughout the claims cycle
Superior interpersonal skills with ability to motivate others in a team approach to obtain desired results and experience in a work environment that requires collaboration across work groups
Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results, providing backup, and participating on projects as needed.

Serve as technical resource by mentoring lower-level claims professionals and sharing technical knowledge related to specific LOB expertise.

Directly related insurance designation such as CPCU, SCLA, AIC
Excellent computer skills in variety of software including Claims Connect, EZaccess,
Workbench, ZDW, Word, Excel
Bachelor’s Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Litigation Management areaOR
Juris Doctor and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Litigation Management areaOR
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree with 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Litigation Management areaOR
Completion of Zurich Claims Training Program and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Litigation Management areaOR
High School Diploma Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims and/ or Litigation Management areaAND
Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)
Microsoft Office experience
Knowledge of insurance regulations, markets and products
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills
Experience collaborating in a team environment and building cross functional working relationships
Proactively shares and promotes sharing of insights

Ability to follow reserving process for indemnity and expense in analyzing the potential exposure of complex claims
Ability to determine the scope and exposure for complex claims
Ability to leverage trend and relationships to provide high-quality customer service
Well-versed in identifying, understanding and explaining complex financial and/or actuarial trends/concepts
Ability to effectively communicate coverage determinations to customers/clients/brokers for complex claims
Ability to direct counsel on an ongoing basis to guide the course of complex litigation and settlement strategies
