Training and Development Specialist

POSITION

Reports To: Director, Training & Development

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

ROLE

SUMMARY

The Training and Development Specialist will create, develop, implement, and conduct training and development programs for employees across Astrix’s functions and practice areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assesses training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and communication with managers, instructors, and customer representatives.

  • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding/orientation, and skills training for employees.

  • Develops unique training programs to fulfill employees’ specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.

  • Creates and/or acquires training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.

  • Presents training and development programs using various forms and formats including group discussion, lecture, simulations, and videos.

  • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.

  • Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, and feedback.

  • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Training and Development, Communications or a related field required.

  • At least two years of training experience required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

  • None required, but certification from the Association for Talent Development or Langevin Learning Services would be advantageous.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Related experience working in staffing or consulting in the Life Science industry desired.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Solid presentation skills.

  • Ability to apply adult learning theory to course/program development.

  • Experience with multimedia platforms and course authoring tools (examples include Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Canva, Camtasia, VideoScribe, Captivate, and Adobe Suite)

  • Knowledge of Cornerstone OnDemand a strong plus. Knowledge of LMS systems a must.

  • Ability to design, develop, and deliver professional and effective training interventions.

  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.
