OCS seeks to involve youth in the life and work of communities and works to promote, expand, and recognize community volunteerism for all Montanans. As the Training Specialist you will: * Play an essential role in facilitating and leading training for AmeriCorps State programs, AmeriCorps members, and the Montana Commission on Community Service. * Use AmeriCorps curriculum to deepen knowledge on a variety of topics, and other training needs identified, including taking a leadership role in coordinating the annual ServeMontana Symposium, bimonthly conference calls, and more. * Use online resources and in-person strategies that support training, peer learning, and development of AmeriCorps program staff across Montana. If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge of: * Training needs assessment, capacity building, and national service programs. * National service and knowledge of state and federal government operations strongly preferred. * Public speaking, adult learning styles, facilitation, technical writing, and business English knowledge and skills. Skilled in: * Experience with event planning, meeting logistics management and delivering training in-person or via webinar technology * Strong attention to written and logistical details * Providing excellent customer service to internal and external partners and individuals. * Exercising adaptive leadership when leading meetings, working with elected officials, work groups, the public, and others. Ability to: * Communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing with other staff members, agencies, and members of the public * Effectively work both in a team environment and independently to achieve Office goals, objectives, and timelines * Be flexible and see the opportunities in challenge * To work independently and with various volunteer committees MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, business or public administration or a related field plus 1 year of directly related experience required, Or • 5 years of directly related qualifying experience. Preferred Experience: * Working at a state service commission and/or AmeriCorps State program * Experience in nontraditional education, adult learning styles, project management and administrative functions. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered on a case-by-case basis. How would you let us know that you’re the right person?
