Independent/ Transportation Technical Support Specialist
The Helena Public Schools has an immediate opening for a Transportation Technical Support Specialist At Helena Public Schools, our vision is to foster dynamic educational experiences that prepare all students for life. As the Transportation Technical Support Specialist you contribute to this mission by providing management of transportation software. You will work as part of a team serving nearly 8,000 students employees across 18 campuses in Helena School Distyrtict # 1 a K-12 public school system in Helena, Montana. This position works under the general supervision of the Transportation Manager overseeing the Edulog student software/hardware, SafetyVision hardware, Samsara software/hardware and Foresight Pro software. Position requires exceptional customer service to parents, general public and Helena Public Schools staff in regards to any technical related questions or concerns. Some what you may do: ** Develop, maintain and enhance the routing hardware and software for optimal routing operations to include but not limited to:
Providing day-to-day monitoring, operational support, and initial troubleshooting of the District’s transportation software (Edulog SQL, eSQL, Athena) and transportation services.
Troubleshoot issues regarding the Edulog Launchpad, eSQL, System Management, and WebQuery.
Oversee backups performed by Edulog and the running of the hosted server.
Oversee nightly preventative maintenance, ensure successful PowerSchool student information uploads correctly for Edulog utilities.
Coordination and integration of transportation specific information between the student management system software and the Edulog transportation software.
Maintain all server hardware, web connections, and other items necessary for district access through the Internet.
Oversee the execution of Edulog system administration using Edulog Maintenance Utilities (EMU).
Inform and train District and First Student staff on new versions of Edulog and other related software applications as they become available.
** Implement and maintain tablets installed on all regular ed buses. To become part of this dedicated team, you need:
Associate’s Degree (A.S.) in programming, computer science, business information technology or related field
A minimum of two years’ experience in application development or application support
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, database systems, scripting, web programming, query languages, spreadsheet manipulation, and basic software troubleshooting.
Preferred qualifications include:
Advanced degree in business, information technology, logistics, supply chain management or related field.
Experience using Edulog SQL transportation, student management software (PowerSchool) and/or GIS mapping software.
Experience in computer networking.
Familiarity with the greater Helena area and Lewis and Clark County.
This is a full time (1.0 FTE) 12-month per year position that will work eight hours per day between 8am – 4:30pm; M-F Entry level salary range is $24.21 - $27.52 per hour DOQ/DOE as detemined by the District and includes a comprehensive benefit package.
