Tetra Tech Inc. is currently seeking a part-time UXO Technician II for our Helena, MT office.

In addition to being able to fully perform all UXO-Sweep Personnel functions, with direction and supervision from senior UXO-qualified personnel, you may also:

Properly store explosive materials per applicable guidance;
Determine precise location in field environment using a variety of techniques such as use of global positioning equipment, or basic land navigation techniques using tape and compass;
Prepare an on-site holding area to temporarily stow munitions and explosives of concern (MEC) that has an acceptable risk of movement.
Operate modes of transportation for transporting UXO, for which the risk of movement has been determined acceptable, when appropriate.
Perform limited technical supervision of UXOSP;
Escort personnel who are not directly involved in UXO related operations (e.g. personnel performing environmental monitoring) but have activities to perform within exclusion areas.
Inspect material potentially presenting an explosive hazard (MPPEH) for the presence of explosive safety hazards.
Other duties that may be assigned.

The ideal candidate is required to have OSHA 40-hour training in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and be in the medical monitoring program prior to starting on-site work. The individual must meet the minimum qualifications set forth for a UXOT-II in accordance with the current Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB) Technical Paper (TP)-18 Minimum Qualifications for Personnel Conducting MEC related activities.

You must be highly motivated, customer focused and work well in a team environment. Must also have the ability to travel across the State and the Nation as needed. Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor degree preferred.

All UXO personnel are required to be U.S. citizens.

The work environment will consist of field work conducted in difficult terrain and sometimes under harsh weather conditions outside including in extreme cold and heat. Lifting instruments and equipment up to 50 pounds and climbing up and down steep slopes will be required at certain times.

This position requires you to drive on a regular basis and will require passing a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check. A valid current driver's license to travel to and from job sites is required. Air travel to field project sites outside Montana will be occasionally required.

Work performed in the local area (Helena MT) will not include per diem, lodging or relocation costs.
