Flathead Conservation District Bookkeeper in Kalispell, Montana
The Flathead Conservation District (www.flatheadcd.org) seeks a Bookkeeper to help fulfill its mission of promoting natural resources through on-the-ground conservation projects, education, and administration of the Natural Streambed and Land Preservation Act (310 Law). This position reports to the Resource Conservationist and is located in Kalispell, Montana.
The successful applicant is team-oriented, professional, and has a strong work ethic. They have excellent financial management and data entry skills, are exceptionally organized, and have a strong eye for detail. They are capable of handling multiple tasks at once and managing numerous deadlines. They communicate clearly, work well with others, and are willing to learn new skills and undergo on-the-job training.
This position is responsible for a variety of bookkeeping tasks and is required to work closely with the District Administrator for grant management and programmatic operations.
Duties will include, at a minimum:
Track all income and expenses for the District using QuickBooks;
Process bills, invoices, payroll, mileage and expense sheets, and general payments;
Produce billing statements for District operations and managed grants;
Process revenue and transfer of funds each month;
Work with Treasurer for bank statement and budget reconciliation;
Produce budget reports and financial statements for presentation to the Board;
Work directly with Staff and Board to draft annual budget.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful applicant must have a thorough comprehension of QuickBooks software and payroll accounting as well as general computer and math skills.
Schedule and Hours:
This is a flexible-schedule position (30-40 hrs/week) and requires attendance at evening meetings (up to twice per month). Duties will be performed at the Flathead Conservation District office between the hours of 8 AM and 4:30 PM, M-F. Schedule and hours may vary depending on cyclical tasks such as payroll.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with experience ($18-22/hour). Employee benefits include competitive health insurance paid for by the District and mandatory participation in the Montana Public Employees’ Retirement System.
