Logan Health Director Foundation Operations in Kalispell, Montana

Job Description Summary:

This position directs the strategy development and coordination of the day-to-day business operations of the Logan Health Foundation.


  • Minimum of one (1) of the following required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in progressively responsible development leadership position(s), which includes experience in all functional areas (individual giving, institutional giving, planned giving, stewardship, and/or board relations)

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ proven record of accomplishment of successful fundraising at the major gifts level required.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ leadership experience required.

  • Participation in a major capital campaign (planning, implementation, management, and successful conclusion), for a healthcare, higher education, nonprofit, or other institution of similar complexity with multiple stakeholders preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Management Job Duties:

Strategic Execution

Drive organizational objectives by operationalizing changes and initiatives effectively and efficiently. Proactively anticipate both the needs of Logan Health and the impact operations has on the organization’s success. Collect and analyze data, prepare and present recommendations, and explain associated benefits and risks for improving operations.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Responsible for the centralized oversight of all operations within Foundation Development.

  • Responsible for process design, development, and coordination to ensure all critical business operation processes are documented and policies exist that support operational excellence.

  • Assists assigned leadership in developing a long-range strategic plan that sets forth the Foundation’s mission, goals, strategies, objectives and budget. Assists in evaluating and updating this Plan through the development of an annual Business Plan.

  • Develops a timeline for expected progress milestones, monitors progress among priorities such as campaign phases, and provides data to leadership for measuring success.

  • Develops and executes a proactive data integrity system.

  • Serves as liaison to all Logan Health fundraising operations for back office support.

  • Serves as primary contact to Logan Health Finance department and is responsible for restricted funds.

  • Performs reactive and proactive prospect research for frontline fundraisers. Assists with prioritizing portfolios and determines research needed to move prospects through the stages of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

  • Creates and promotes an environment of continuous improvement in all areas related to operations and support in order to enhance fundraising, cultivation and stewardship of donors.

  • In partnership with assigned leadership, is responsible for the estate and planned program.

  • Keeps abreast of changes and patterns of philanthropy and related tax developments.

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
