Discovery Developmental Center Executive Director in Kalispell, Montana
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Maintain a quality vision for the center that is focused on continuous improvement and development of innovative programming that meets the childcare needs of families in the Flathead Valley.1. Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Operations Develop and implement the annual budget and assure compliance with DDC Financial Policies andsound budgetary practices, with support of the DDC Board of Directors. Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable, family tuition billing and fee collections, withassistance from administrative assistant. Coordinate and oversee purchasing of supplies, materials, and all expenditures to ensure theprogram is cost effective and funds are managed appropriately. Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies and manage all government programs andexternal agencies as appropriate (Licensing, CACFP, STARS, NAEYC, etc.), including completing andmaintaining all required monthly and annual forms to ensure legal and financial compliance. Oversee grant applications and management and engage in fundraising as needed to support andenhance center operations. Develop and maintain operational systems for facilities management, including indoor and outdoorbuilding maintenance and upkeep, technology/security/communication systems maintenance and upgrades, vehicle upkeep and maintenance, and any additional requirements needed for licensing standards, including annual Fire and Environmental Health inspections. Collaborate with the DDC Board of Directors, families, and staff in the development and implementation of Strategic Plans and goals. Develop Board meeting agendas with DDC Board President and attend and report on center operations.2. Program Delivery & Development Collaborate with and support all staff to ensure programming and curriculum content meets orexceeds the criteria of developmentally appropriate practice and meets NAEYC program standards. Plan for continuing staff development for DDC staff, including classroom mentoring and coaching. Ensure the safety and well-being of all children, families, visitors and staff at DDC. Oversee DDC food program, including understanding and adhering to federal and state rules andguidelines for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Establish practices for menu development and food production, including purchasing andmanagement of inventory.3. Human Resource Management Manage the hiring process and orientation for all new staff, including recruitment of staff withdiverse backgrounds and talents. Administer and implement employee benefits package and other Human Resources tasks asneeded and/or developed. Supervise all DDC staff to ensure compliance with program goals and objectives and in theaccordance with all legal and licensing requirements. Communicates effectively with all staff in a friendly, positive, and professional manner and help resolve conflicts in ways that are respectful and fair. Organize staff work schedules to meet the needs of the program. Implement a system of regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-services. Conduct quarterly individual check-ins and annual performance evaluations with all staff to assessprofessional development and/or trainings.4. Family Communications & Relationships Articulate DDC’s mission and philosophy to families throughout the enrollment process, includinginitial telephone or electronic conversations, and tours. Oversee the enrollment process and procedures including maintenance of a waitlist, confidentialchild files, including immunization records and other protected health information, and any information required for adherence to state and local regulations for all family members and guardians. Oversee current program communications including DDC website, social media accounts, parent handbook and policies, newsletters, and other communication needs. Ensure families eligible for special services receive appropriate referrals to appropriate agencies. Create and maintain an active system of family-school partnerships, including the Family ShareProgram.5. Community Outreach & Professionalism Maintain positive and effective working relationships with community organizations and otherpractitioners, both locally and at the state level. Remain abreast of current issues in early childhood education through reading, conferences, andworkshops and advocate for policies that will improve the early childhood system. Play an active role in local, state, and national early childhood organizations. Maintain a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with the DDC Board ofDirectors, staff, families, and the community.6.
