Anticipated start date of August 2024.ESSENTIAL DUTIES Teaches and conveys knowledge of related natural resources. Courses may include natural resources management, soils, water resources, forest insects and disease, recreation management, forest navigation, and other forestry-related classes at freshman and sophomore levels in an effective manner for successful student learning outcomes. Serves as program director for the Natural Resource Conservation and Management Program. Coordinates and stewards the articulation agreement between FVCC and the University of Montana for the forestry transfer tract. Assists with the development and revision of curriculum and integrates subject area with other related curricula. Works professionally with college faculty and staff to aid with the educational process and fulfills all academic responsibilities. Teaches content material using a variety of instructional methods to facilitate student learning. Maintains and submits instructional records in accordance with requirements and participates in assessment activities. Advises students according to established guidelines. Serves as an ambassador for the College and fosters positive student and community relations. Facilitates the hiring of adjunct faculty. Attends meetings and participates in student and/or program assessment as directed. Remains current in practices, trends and research related to areas of assignment. Fosters positive student and community relations. Actively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students, faculty, and the College. Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships. Maintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policies. Advances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activities. Reports to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs. Performs other related duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The Montana Board of Regents of Higher Education Policy 730 requires the following minimum qualifications for faculty in transfer programs/disciplines:- Master’s degree in the teaching field, OR- Master’s degree in a closely related academic discipline with at least nine (9) graduate-level semester credits in the academic discipline, AND- Minimum of one year experience in the occupation to be taught OR an additional year of post-master's education in the career/technical discipline.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Practical experience working in an ecosystem management field such as forestry, conservation ecology, environmental science, or closely related field.- Ph.D. in closely related field.- A minimum of 30 semester credits of teaching experience in a post-secondary setting- Experience teaching natural resources management and conservation.- Experience in differentiated instruction for diverse student populations.- Experience working with instructional technology and/or distance education courses.- Experience in curriculum development and program assessment.- Experience in using a variety of instructional methods to facilitate student learning.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Ability to effectively teach content material using a variety of instructional methods to facilitate student learning. Ability to mentor undergraduate students. Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC. Ability and willingness to serve as an ambassador for the College by interacting appropriately with the college community and community. Ability to maintain effective and positive professional relationships. Ability to follow and issue directions. Demonstrated communication, technology, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds. Ability to intermittently work non-traditional schedules including evenings, weekends, etc. Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels . Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check. Ability to respond in the event of an emergency. Ability to perform a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry.
