Logan Health Gaming and Technology Specialist - Child Life in Kalispell, Montana

Job Description Summary:

Utilizes knowledge of child development, special needs children, and available technology and innovation to facilitate enriching experiences for patients. Supports patient and family with the hospitalization coping process while utilizing different media platforms.


  • Associates Degree in the arts, sciences, or a related field required.

  • Coursework in psychology, child development or other related academic behavioral studies preferred.

  • Experience working with children, teens and adults required. Examples of experience include, but may not be limited to; day care, sports programs, camps, or extra-curricular resource and enrichment programs. Experience with developmental delays or health challenges preferred.

  • Technical expertise with gaming systems, gaming technology and computer technology required.

  • Strong understanding of gaming platforms (Xbox, Sony, etc.), required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in computer support or equivalent combination of training and/or experience preferred.

  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Utilizes knowledge and understanding of child development and gaming strategies to support children and their families through illness and treatment while hospitalized.

  • Develops, coordinates, implements, configures, maintains and repairs gaming related technologies and programs that support Logan Health Children’s Child Life team’s goals and objectives.

  • Maintains updated knowledge on all applicable gaming systems and provides the physical and digital upkeep of all gaming/technology assets in the assigned area(s).

  • Provides overall technical oversight and service for gaming systems to include, but may not be limited to; design, implementation, training and technical support.

  • Provides high quality customer service and consistently follows-through and provides timely escalation of issues as needed.

  • Works closely with patients and families to deploy appropriately assigned gaming technologies.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of the organization’s IT hardware and software.

  • In collaboration with stakeholders, assists with the strategy for technology gaming solutions for assigned area(s). Develops and oversees the life cycle of system implementation, upkeep, installation, training, etc.

  • Utilizes industry knowledge in the understanding of information security best practices and HIPAA security and privacy restrictions. Implements best practices on applicable gaming systems, equipment, and emerging technologies.

  • Leads special projects involving gaming and virtual reality technologies, and participates in presentations for leadership, donors, partners, and other key stakeholders as assigned.

  • Researches and pursues skill enhancements to stay abreast of changing technology solutions, and product expertise.

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
