Kalispell Regional Healthcare Kitchen Supervisor in Kalispell, Montana
The Kitchen Supervisor at Kalispell Regional Healthcare will supervise and coordinate all activities relating to food services including but not limited to: meal production, service and delivery, food preparation, and dish room personnel. Plan and participate in associate recruitment, orientation, evaluations and scheduling. Assure the provision of quality customer service & teamwork that reflects the organization’s Mission & Values.
*Under the supervision of the Department Manager, motivate, evaluate, advise, train and direct staff while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen.
*Create, foster and reflect a culture of ownership with all associates to ensure they are representatives of the organizations values to accomplish our mission and complete their assigned tasks.
*Adhere to state and regulatory food service standards, including but not limited to: follow Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point guidelines and ensures staff do the same; maintain daily temperature logs; monitors daily cleaning assignments.
*Follow proper sanitization techniques and inspect unit to observe quality of food preparation, service, cleanliness and sanitation of production and service areas and equipment.
*Ensure that meal deadlines are met and reflect high quality levels.
As necessary, support all functions in the various Nutrition Services positions and stations.
*Conduct weekly documented rounding on associates, patients, and Brendan House Residents; participate in service recovery.
*Oversee the production and delivery of evening catering events.
*Ensure supply ordering is completed in an accurate manner and proper time-frame, informing the Department Manager of any supply variances.
*Manage staff scheduling to ensure there is adequate staffing in all areas for both long and short term planning and changes.
At the direction of the Department Manager, may complete employee evaluations and appropriate timekeeping duties in a professional and timely manner without reminders.
*In partnership with leadership team, participate in the selection process of department employees. Develop and maintain new employee orientation programs (guide, mentor and teach). Adapt to individual learning techniques as necessary to promote a functional, meaningful orientation period.
*Demonstrate the ability to be flexible and organized in all tasks while functioning calmly and efficiently in a changing environment. Proactively handle customer/staff issues in a professional and constructive manner.
Complete special projects as assigned to accomplish performance improvement goals.
Minimum of three (3) years progressive experience in healthcare or other high volume food service setting and one (1) year food or nutrition service supervisory experience preferred. Other equivalent experience may be considered.
ServSafe certification or Certified Professional Food Manager (CFPM) certification required.
Proven ability to provide a high degree of customer service, both internal and external, and to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms with staff, managers and customers.
Knowledge and experience in the following food service areas: procurement of food and supplies; knife and kitchen equipment use; catering.
Experience with computer programs equivalent to and skills sufficient to learn organization computer systems (i.e. Meditech, Excel, Kronos Self Service and Timekeeping, Horizon Retail software, Catertrax, Mvix digital signage).
Demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple priorities at one time.
Ability to lead, direct and manage staff to meet department needs and quality expectations.
Ability to maintain organized, accurate and current records as necessary.
