Welcome to the New Graduate RN Residency Program at Logan Health, located in the beautiful Flathead Valley in northwest Montana.

Logan Health New Graduate RN Residency Program is accredited as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs .

This position provides entry-level professional nursing care to patients under the supervision of a designated preceptor. This care shall be rendered in a safe and effective manner that is consistent with Logan Health’s (LH) policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Current Montana RN License or a multi state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required at the start of the program or prior to direct patient care .

  • BSN degree preferred.

  • Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and have completed at least 250 clinical hours during their education.

  • Must have graduated from an accredited nursing school within one (1) year of start of the Nurse Residency class, or nurses returning to the profession must have completed a refresher course prior to acceptance.

  • Current BLS required.

  • Must successfully complete all steps in the Nurse Residency Program application process.

  • Additional potential requirements for assignment to specialty areas:

  • Possess one (1) of the following is preferred:

  • Prior working experience in the specialty area.

  • Externship with 90+ hours’ in the specialty area. The externship must be above and beyond the standard clinical.

  • Additional certification requirements vary by specialty and must be successfully obtained by designated timeframe after hire. Examples of certification include, but may not be limited to; ACLS, PALS, ENPC.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Exhibits commitment to professionalism, civility, teamwork and customer service while undertaking all tasks and interactions with others.

  • Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to the RN’s specific job duties, patient care and safety. Complies with and maintains regulatory compliance requirements as defined for the nursing care on the unit and according to LH standards.

  • Operates and maintains equipment to departmental standards.

  • Maintains nursing standards of care and executes appropriate physician/provider orders. While executing patient care, demonstrates knowledge of and maintains patient rights to diversity, privacy and confidentiality.

  • Performs a comprehensive assessment of patient on admission and at regular intervals appropriate for the condition of the patient and/or as ordered by the physician/provider.

  • Administers medications, treatments, physician/provider specified care and intravenous therapy to patients in compliance with LH and nursing policies and procedures.

  • Completes reassessment of patient(s) to monitor status, identifies changes in vital signs, lab work or status, and implements interventions as ordered and/or defined. Evaluates patient responses to treatment and/or therapy in compliance with LH and nursing policies and procedures.

  • Communicates appropriate and critical changes in patient condition, status, and findings to the appropriate physician/provider in a timely manner and/or as defined by policies and procedures and/or physician/provider orders.

  • Documents all clinical findings and required regulatory mandates in the chart in compliance with LH and nursing policies and procedures and/or as defined by regulatory requirements.

  • Completes and demonstrates competency/currency in unit specific required annual competencies and educational requirements as defined.

  • Exhibits knowledge of staffing standards and a demonstrated commitment to cost containment with all resources.

  • Possesses a knowledge and understanding of and adheres to all Nurse Residency Program requirements.

  • The above essential functions are representative of major duties of positions in this job classification. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs. Other duties may be assigned similar to the above consistent with knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. Not all of the duties may be assigned to a position.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

We hire New Graduate RN Residents into three cohorts per year: February, July, & October.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
