Logan Health Security Guard - PRN (Scheduled as Needed) in Kalispell, Montana

Job Description Summary:

This position monitors premises, facilities and other assigned area(s) to prevent theft, violence and infractions of rules. Secures and protects facility in case of fires, natural disasters or

hazardous events. Responds to code calls and provides assistance with the monitoring of patients of concern.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) year previous security or law enforcement experience preferred.

  • Must meet Montana State Security Officer licensing requirements and successfully obtain license within thirty (30) days of hire.

  • Current Driver’s License required. Must possess a good driving record clear of moving violations in the past five (5) years and no major driving offenses (DUI, etc.).

  • Heartsaver CPR certification required as applicable to assigned area(s).

  • Experience and/or training in a healthcare environment preferred.

  • Knowledge and understanding of basic security and fire inspection procedures.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Patrols assigned premises in an effort to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry. Regularly examines doors, windows and gates for security, and to identify suspicious activity.

  • Professionally interacts with staff, escorts staff, patients and/or visitors to and from specific locations on foot or in patrol vehicle as requested.

  • Responds to emergency alarms and code situations and minimizes unsafe conditions. Assists in crowd control and evacuation of assigned area(s) as required and in compliance with organizational guidelines.

  • Composes reports and documents interactions as required by standard operating guidelines.

  • Serves as a liaison between the assigned area(s) and local law enforcement.

  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of assigned area(s) floor plan/premises including all normal and emergency entry and exit points. Performs lockdown of areas as assigned.

  • Investigates and reports signs of damage or unlawful activity to the appropriate authority per assigned area(s) protocol. Documents actions/results of all security activity.

  • Confronts unauthorized or suspicious individuals for questioning and detainment. Calls for local police as appropriate and applicable to assigned area(s).

  • Ensures parking-lot security, verifies parking placards for authorized parking, maintains presence in parking areas and examines incoming and outgoing vehicles for suspicious activity.

  • Participates in other security/safety functions as requested to include, but not limited to; trainings and drills.

  • Drives the ground ambulance as required and transports documents and/or money as necessary.

Other duties may be assigned similar to the above consistent with knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. Not all of the duties may be assigned to a position.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
