Logan Health Senior Accountant in Kalispell, Montana

Job Description Summary:

This position leads and performs accounting and financial functions for Logan Health and related entities. Acts as a resource to others in the department including accounting staff and financial analysts. As a professional in accounting practices, assists department in shaping organizational accounting policy and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) of the following required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

  • CPA license or CPA candidate preferred. MBA preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ of specific accounting experience required. Experience to include, cash and bank reconciliations, general ledger, financial statement preparation, debt accounting, investment accounting, fixed assets, etc. Healthcare background preferred.

  • Possess and maintain advanced computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel) required. Experience with Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, and Meditech preferred. Must possess ability to learn other software as needed.

  • Ability to effectively lead and mentor others, self-direction and analytical abilities required.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Prepares required monthly journal entries within deadlines to ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.

  • Prepares and completes external financial statement audit schedules for assigned LH entities.

  • Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts and property tax record keeping, payment and recording. Maintains and ensures appropriate support documentation and records accompany entries and reconciliations of the general ledger.

  • Coordinates preparation and completion of external tax accountant’s prepared by client schedules for Form 990 preparation.

  • Performs other accounting duties and/or special projects as assigned or as requested by finance and accounting leadership.

  • Performs technical accounting research and drafts position papers to support material accounting conclusions. Works with external financial statement auditors to validate accounting conclusions.

  • Maintains and supports standard system-wide accounting policies and practices relevant to assigned areas.

  • Cross trains and serves as backup for various other accounting functions and duties.

  • Serves as a mentor to junior accounting staff leading and supporting training and team building activities as applicable to assigned area(s).

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
