Logan Health Service Line Director Research and Cancer Services in Kalispell, Montana

Overview

This position has oversight and responsibility for operations, growth and development of the assigned areas at Kalispell Regional Healthcare (KRH). Develops, implements, and administers successful and consistent service objectives, policies and procedures. Collaborates with leadership on care management, business strategy, business development, implementation and execution. Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with; employed and independent physicians and assigned areas, staff, patients and referral sources. Provides leadership that is consistent with the core values, mission, ethics, and policies and procedures of KRH.

Responsibilities

Management Job Duties:

Strategic Execution

Drive organizational objectives by operationalizing changes and initiatives effectively and efficiently. Proactively anticipate both the needs of KRH and the impact operations has on the organization’s success. Collect and analyze data, prepare and present recommendations, and explain associated benefits and risks for improving operations.

Business Acumen

Demonstrate and further develop competencies in the areas of leadership, financial management, employee engagement, human resources knowledge, organizational dynamics and governance, organizational communication, strategic planning, change management, risk management, compliance, patient safety and quality improvement. Demonstrate professional ownership, self-development and a desire for life-long learning.

Serve as a role model for others by exhibiting the KRH core values: integrity, compassion, service, excellence and ownership. Lead and influence the team to provide outstanding customer service. Collaborates with Human Resources to develop, implement and support programs and processes that add value to KRH, its leadership and employees. Job Specific Duties:

  1. *Supports development and oversight of assigned cost centers to ensure adherence to organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business strategies. Responsible for meeting financial and productivity staffing targets set annually by the organization.

  2. *In collaboration with physician leadership, medical staff, administration, and other health care providers, develops and implements short and long range plans, leads, develops and revises programs which enhance assigned services.

  3. *Leads assigned area in the overall marketing, program development and leadership service priorities. Coordinates with physicians and KRH leadership to ensure continuity in pursing organizational goals and synergy in implementing plans and problem resolution.

  4. *Practices process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of the service/care provided within the assigned area. Maintains competency in all organization, departmental and outside agency safety standards relevant to job performance for assigned area. Ensures compliance of assigned area and staff. Ensures department staff and principal investigators follow FDA, GCP, ICH and billing compliance guidelines and clinical trial staff and principal investigators are fully trained and meet all competency requirements to participate in clinical trials as appropriate for assigned area(s).

  5. *Encourages an ethic of open communication and teamwork throughout the organization. Builds an environment of shared commitment to KRH’s goals and responsibility to achieve quality outcomes. Works in collaboration with the Sponsors, IRBs and regulatory agencies to ensure that all reporting is timely and accurate as appropriate for assigned area(s).

  6. *Provides consultation for related concerns and acts as a customer advocate by demonstrating sensitivity to ethical and legal ramifications of assigned area. Promotes customer service through regular interaction with physicians, administrators, clinical staff, patients and the general public in a courteous manner and provides proactive service recovery.

  7. *Consults with independent medical groups, business, and community groups to discuss service problems, responds to community needs, enhances public relations, coordinates activities and plans, and promotes health programs.

  8. *Maintains awareness of advances in medicine, computerized diagnostic and treatment equipment, data processing technology, government regulations, health insurance changes, and financing options. Coordinates and/or develops ongoing performance improvement activities for clinical staff and monitors assigned area staff both clinical and non-clinical compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.

  9. *Exhibits exceptional skill in proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and encourages staff to do the same. Takes initiative to recommend new strategies and provides well-thought out implementation steps. Enthusiastically embraces change.

  10. *Maintains standards of care and adheres to organizational policies/procedures. Ensures regulatory compliance and supports population health initiatives. Demonstrates transformational leadership skills and the ability to (a) communicate a shared vision, (b) influence behaviors through coaching and positive role modeling (c) engaging in patient-centered care, (d) monitoring performance expectations, (e) provides constructive feedback and clinical mentoring, and (f) builds teamwork through collaboration.

  11. *Empirical outcomes as demonstrated by (a) participation in data collection efforts as required and endorsed by KRH, (b) analysis of outcomes, (c) improvement activities based on the data analysis, and (d) contribution of the reporting improvement activities through designated KRH processes.

Other duties may be assigned similar to the above consistent with knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. Not all of the duties may be assigned to a position.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare, leadership or business related field required. Master’s Degree in healthcare, leadership or business related field, plus relevant work experience preferred. Two years of experience may count as a year of education.

  2. Minimum of five (5) years’ demonstrated leadership experience with responsibility for all business, financial and staff operations required.

  3. Additional qualifications for assignment inClinical Research and Cancer Programarea(s):

  4. Minimum three (3) years’ clinical experience preferred.

  5. Certification in Clinical Research (CCRC) preferred.

  6. Oncology clinical and/or leadership experience preferred.

  7. Expert level knowledge of interpretation, analysis, production and application of financial and market data to impact decision-making and business development. Experience developing and executing specific, measureable business plans that have clear financial accountability and create successful, effective results.

  8. Prior experience working with physician groups, clinicians, doctors, and staff required. Possess clinical knowledge in supported practice oversight either through clinical training or experience.

  9. Demonstrated ability to evaluate and develop patient care services appropriate for the assigned geography and complementing the market’s need. Expertise in developing profitability-based marketing strategies that effectively acquire new customers and incremental market share growth.

  10. Strong ability to develop and interpret research that evolves into successful marketing and business building strategies. Possess knowledge of healthcare trends used for strategic planning and maintains a high level of customer satisfaction. Solid understanding of health care dynamics to advance the mission, vision, and values of KRH.

  11. Must employ critical thinking skills, decision-making and judgment through the use of contextual perspective, evidence-based practice, discrimination of the circumstances involved, the application of standards and the use of logical conclusions.
