JOB TITLE: Coordinator, Student UnionDEPARTMENT: Student Services PAY GRADE: 40 PAY RANGE: $38,000 - $42,000 depending on education and experience, 12 mos. per year, benefit-eligible Generous Benefits include:* Health/Vision, Dental, Life/ADD & Long-term Disability Insurance: Generous Employercontribution toward the cost of this benefit* Vacation Leave: Earn up to 15 days per year* Sick Leave: Earn up to 12 days per year* Holiday Leave: 12 per year* Retirement: Participates in MT Public Employees Retirement System; AND Employer match up to 7% for 403(b)* Tuition Waiver: Employee plus up to two legal dependentsFLSA: Exempt CLOSING DATE:Opened Until Filled SUMMARYThe Student Union Coordinator provides a welcoming face to the Flathead Valley Community College and helps our diverse customers navigate systems within student services and the College.ESSENTIAL DUTIESManages the day-to-day Student Union Welcome and Information operations. Fosters cooperative relationships with the public and prospective students to enhance and promote the College.Promotes a culture of leadership within a collaborative, team-oriented environment; supervises, recruits, develops, motivates, and evaluates a team in alignment with job expectations, professional roles, and the College mission.Sustains a generalist knowledge of Financial Aid, Advising, Counseling, Disability Services, Admissions and Registration areas to refer and guide students and prospective students successfully; stays abreast in the latest developments in student services areas.Ensures quality and responsiveness as the first point of contact to the College; provides excellent customer service, referrals and resolutions to the students, employees and public.Assists prospective students with the application and registration process; provides information and resources related to all student services in the Student Union; collaboratively troubleshoots and problem solves issues with students.Utilizes FVCC’s Student Information System, website, and technologies. Performs accurate data input into information system; maintains files and reports; updates information according to policy and regulations; creates student identification cards.Interacts with employers and regarding internships, job board, and assists with career services data information and data entry.Participates actively and with initiative in continuous improvement efforts to provide efficient and quality student services. Researches, analyzes and resolves issues that arise in student services and addresses them proactively.Creates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationships.Schedules appointments and assessments for students and provides administrative support to staff and directors.Serves a member on various college committees and teams; meets with other college personnel for events, projects, planning, idea sharing, issue resolutions, operational communications, professional development, etc.Works closely and cooperatively with campus departments, faculty and related agencies on programmatic, financial, and compliance matters.Establishes and initiates effective and timely communications to assure sharing of information.Researches, analyzes and resolves issues that arise in financial systems and addresses them proactively.Responds to inquiries.Remains current in practices, trends and research related to areas of assignmentAttends related trainings, workshops, and professional developmentCross trains to perform other departmental and team functions; backfills for staff as neededActively participates in the development of a climate that promotes and supports innovation and efforts to continuously improve services to students, faculty, and the CollegeCreates and maintains a collaborative and collegial environment with colleagues and maintains effective working relationshipsMaintains professional ethics and confidentiality of students in accordance with applicable laws and policiesAdvances the mission of FVCC by serving on or convening committees and contributing in the community in college-related activitiesPerforms other duties as assignedReports to Dean of Student SuccessMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree, AND, a minimum of one year’s administrative work experience; OR,Associate’s degree, AND, a minimum of three year’s administrative work experience; OR,An equitable combination of five year’s education and administrative work experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSWork experience in a higher education setting.Experience working with information systems.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility to provide quality customer service and collaboration by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational culture.Strong skills in problem solving and conflict resolution.Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in a setting that is fast-paced and ever-changing.Ability to act with diplomacy, tact and respect for customers in all situations.Working knowledge, skill, and ability to stay abreast with computer applications, technology and office procedures.Ability to work independently.Ability to work within policies and procedures of FVCC Ability and willingness to serve as an ambassador for the College by interacting appropriately with the college community and communityAbility to maintain effective and positive professional relationships Ability to follow and issue directions Demonstrated communication, technology, presentation, customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds Ability to intermittently work non-traditional schedules including evenings, weekends, etc.Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check Ability to respond in the event of an emergency This is a Medium Duty job, according to the Selected Characteristics of Occupations Defined in the Revised Dictionary of Occupational Titles, U.S. Department of Labor and Industry.
