As a Surgical Technologist , you’ll:
Master the art of surgical precision by arranging instruments for maximum efficiency.
Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and play a key role in ensuring smooth procedures.
Maintain a sterile field and follow aseptic techniques to uphold patient safety.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other specialists to deliver patient-centered care.
Set up and evaluate equipment to ensure everything is in top working condition.
Participate in counts and assist in the handling of surgical specimens.
Assist in patient transfer and post-op care with professionalism and compassion.
What We’re Looking For:
Certification or 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist (preferred)
AHA BLS Certification (or must be obtained within 2 months of hire)
Strong teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work independently when needed
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and adaptability to new software

Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience or certification required.
Surgical Technologist experience preferred in all of the below areas:
Dental
ENT
General Surgery
Neurosurgery
OB/GYN
Orthopedics
Pediatric Neurosurgery
Pediatrics
Plastics/Breasts
Podiatry
Robotics
Surgical Oncology
Thoracic
Urology
Vascular
Surgical Technologist Certification through the certifying body of the Association of Surgical Technologists, Inc. preferred.
Current AHA BLS Certification or must successfully obtain within two (2) months of hire.
Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.
Job Specific Duties:
Participates in the planning process for surgical procedures.
Accurately selects all equipment and supplies needed for surgical cases.
Accurately sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and solutions as needed for procedure
Using proper application of the aseptic technique when opening surgical supplies to the sterile field, and while organizing the sterile supplies and equipment for procedures.
Performs proper hand washing protocol, donning of sterile attire, and begin preparations for the surgical procedure per department procedures.
Exhibits proper usage of surgical drapes to cover patients. Maintains and exhibits highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
Ensures a safe environment for the patient by maintaining the integrity of the sterile field per department protocol.
Evaluates all instrumentation and technical equipment to assure it is in proper and safe working condition. Communicates faulty or broken instruments to Sterile Processing.
Exhibits knowledge of the structure and function of the human anatomy and appropriate interventions to prevent and/or minimize trauma to the patient.
Properly utilizes surgical instruments to assist the surgeon during the procedure.
Participates in counts prior to, during and the end of a procedure per department procedures.
Provides care to the patient in the application of dressings and while transferring the patient to the recovery area.
Works in a calm and efficient manner and exhibits an excellent working knowledge of surgical asepsis and breaks in technique.
Checks assigned specialty non-stock and stock supplies to ensure an adequate quantity is available for procedures per department procedures.
Communicates issues in maintaining supply levels to appropriate stakeholder per department protocol.
Collaborates with stakeholders in maintaining and updating the preference cards/pick lists.
Exhibits a commitment to professionalism while undertaking and completing all departmental competencies.
Performs administrative duties, advises leadership of status changes, and works collaboratively in a team environment.
Exhibits knowledge of medications used during the intra-operative period.
Completes additional work-related developments per department protocol.
Trains Surgical Technologist staff per department protocol.
Covers multiple area(s) as trained and per scope of practice. Area(s) to include CST and CS.
Anticipates the surgeon’s needs and reacts accordingly. Efficiently passes the appropriate instrumentation, sutures and supplies to surgeons and/or assistant.
Assists as directed in cutting sutures and keeping track of items such as sponges, needles, etc.
Assists with the preparation and disposal of lab specimens as directed. Assists team members with cleaning of room.
Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.

Schedule:
Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
