The City of Laurel is accepting applications for a part-time Court Clerk I to perform technical office work in administrative support for the Court relating to the preparation and processing of court cases.Qualifications:- Graduation from High School or its equivalent;- Able to type 60 WPM. (Must provide documentation);- A minimum of two (2) years' work experience in an office environment (Legal experience preferred);- Understands the principles and practices of customer service;- Proficient with personal computers and software;- Able to follows standard office practices and procedures;- Able to perform accurate data entry;- Able to operate a variety of office equipment, including a keyboard, telephone, calculator, copier and fax machine;- Able to operate personal computers, including database, word processing and other related software;- Capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with other City personnel, court officials and the general public;- Able to work independently with minimal supervision;- Able to write legibly and utilize correct grammar, spelling and punctuation;- Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;- Able to interact in a helpful manner with citizens and members of the public;- Able to keep all court matters confidential.Hours: This position is a thirty-two (32) hour per week position.
