Summary

CHS, Inc. has an exciting opportunity supporting our Pipelines & Terminals teams in Laurel, MT. As an Integrity Management Engineer , you will ensure compliance with all Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations related to Integrity Management for our pipeline and terminal operations, while incorporating applicable safety standards and precautions. This role includes effective interaction with engineers, managers, regulators, public stakeholders, consultants, and environmental and safety professionals to achieve compliance with regulations and industry standards. The ideal candidate must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s Integrity Management Plans (IMP) by ensuring the IMP is evaluated and updated to incorporate any applicable regulatory or operational changes on an ongoing basis. Evaluate for areas of potential continuous improvement and preventive and mitigative measures. Track them through completion.

  • Facilitate pipeline integrity assessments including in line inspections.

  • Facilitate station integrity assessments through various non-destructive examinations including API 570 inspections.

  • Assist with analysis of data to control pipeline and facility risk.

  • Provide support for the implementation and maintenance of the Company’s GIS System.

  • Write requests for bid/proposal, bid specifications, secure bids and purchase materials as needed for pipeline and facility projects.

  • Review budget and expenditures to improve operating and maintenance procedures and costs where possible. • Assist in preparing annual budgets to compare costs with anticipated project operation.

  • Submit Authorization for Expenditures for approval for company projects.

  • Manage DOT required inspection records.

  • Maintain familiarity with appropriate industry standards, including API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA & NACE. Assist with review & inspection of new construction projects.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field

  • 2+ years of experience in engineering or related field

Additional Qualifications

  • Regulatory compliance in the petroleum pipeline industry

  • Familiarity with field activities for in-line and facility inspections

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft, ESRI, etc.)

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, and other engineering design software

  • Understanding and knowledge of transportation policies and pipeline procedures.

  • Working knowledge of DOT 195, B31.4, RSTRENG, B31G, CGRA, ECDA, etc.

  • Detail Oriented – the ability to rationalize large quantities data, interpret results, and plan corrective actions aligned to data analysis.

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
