The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as a Behavioral Case Manager at MMHNCC. * * * * Job Overview:* The Montana Mental Health Nursing Care Center is a licensed residential facility for the long-term care and treatment of persons who have mental disorder and who require a level of care not available in the community, but who cannot benefit from the intensive psychiatric treatment available at Montana State Hospital. Responsibilities include counseling residents regarding issues such as day-to-day problems, resident rights, behavior management, and family issues such as financial and Advance Directives; maintaining contact as necessary with the resident’s family or guardians to share information to assist in making decisions, and keeping the family informed during medical emergencies or emotional crisis; and coordinating residents admissions, discharges, guardianships, and deaths following Mental Health Commitment Laws. *Why Join DPHHS:Our mission at DPHHS is serving Montanans in their communities to improve health, safety, well-being, and empower independence. Position can be psychologically stressful dealing with resident and family. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Behaviors): Required for the first day of work: * Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work and social services delivery. * Knowledge of Elderly, Disabled and Intellectually Disabled Adults. * Ability to conduct in-depth investigations, researching findings and documenting results. * Ability to identify problems, researching to develop and implement solutions. * Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. * Ability to maintain a calm and objective demeanor during periods of stress and pressure, defusing possible volatile situation * Ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, including using spreadsheets, word processing, database, email, internet and other computer programs Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): * Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Human Services, Sociology, Counseling or a closely related field. * One to two years of job-related work experience in areas such as social work, human services working with Elderly, Disabled Adults, or Intellectually Disabled Adults. * Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
