Position Summary:The purpose of this position is to provide targeted case management services to youth and families with social, emotional and behavioral problems . The four core areas of targeted case management are assessment, development of service plans, referring activities, and monitoring of services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advocate, support, and guide youth and families in obtaining the needed servicesincluding,but not limited to advocacy, coordination of the various services, education regarding community resources, and referral of a client/family to available services within the community.

  • Maintain contact with other service providers to ensure the unique needs of the youth and family are best met.

  • Research the various services offered within the community to identify services that would best meet the unique and individual needs of youth and families served.

  • Work with the youth, the youth’s family, and other professionals involved to develop a treatment/service plan that addresses the specific needs of the youth.

  • Complete, update and maintain all necessary documentation within the guidelines set by COA, Montana ARM's, Contracts, and YBGR Policy and Procedures.

  • Contribute to the strategic goals and outcomes of the agency as measured by the development and achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals and outcomes. Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) goals of the organization both individually and as a team member.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education:Bachelor’s degree in mental health related field, human services, social work, psychology, or related field of study is required.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Previous Professional Experience:

  • 2 (two) years of professional experience working with youth with serious emotional disturbances is preferred.

  • 2 (two) years of professional experience in case or treatment management is preferred.

License and/or Certification:

  • Driver’s License to operate passenger vehicle.

  • Current CPR/1st Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 day and maintain certification

  • Successfully complete Child and Adolescent Service Intensity Instrument (CASII) training within 30 days of hire.

Competencies or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s)

  • Knowledge of the specific treatment/mental health needs of youth with emotional and psychiatric problems and their families.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Knowledge of community resources for youth and families.

  • Good computer/technology skills. Able to quickly learn and use YBGR selected software solutions.

Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance:Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.

Physical/Environmental Demands & Requirements:

  • Office Environment: Employees are protected from weather conditions or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes.

  • Must be able to remain in stationary position frequently.

  • The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as copier and printer.

  • The person in this position will constantly communicate with internal and external stakeholders and contacts. Must be able to communicate accurate information and accurately understand information communicated by those individuals.


Hiring Range Salary$14.99 - $16.79 per hour, depending on experience and education.

About the OrganizationYellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch was founded in 1956 and welcomed the first boy to the ranch in 1957. Today Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, a nonprofit organization, is trusted locally and nationally as a leader in the field of mental health care for children and their families.

Our Residential Treatment is located on a 410 acre, working farm and ranch located in Billings, MT. We offer a continuum of mental health services that include case management, youth mentoring, home/school-based programs and foster care in addition to residential treatment. We specialize in treating troubled youth who struggle with social, emotional, and behavioral disorders. We also have four Community Based Services locations in Livingston, Lewistown, Dillon, and Billings. With all of our locations we impact about 650 kids each day. And throughout our history, YBGR has impacted close to 10,000 youth and their families.
