Cabinet Peaks Medical Center Assistant Surgery Manager, Full Time in Libby, Montana
Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for an Assistant Surgery Manager to join our Surgical Services team!
Assistant Surgery Manager will promote a positive culture which aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. A Surgery Assistant Manager will work in collaboration with the Director of Surgical Services overseeing the daily workflow and patient throughput within the surgery department. Responsibilities include being the Surgery Department Educator who will work closely with the CPMC’s House Educator to ensure that all team members meet their individual educational requirements in order to achieve excellence in providing high quality patient care and being the Surgery Department On-Boarding Coordinator who will oversee new hire/training orientation and preceptorship. A Surgery Assistant Manager will work closely with the Director of Surgical Services developing, monitoring, and revising surgical service’s policies and procedures striving for most up to date best practices.
The Surgery Assistant Manager will also perform the duties of a Perioperative Registered Nurse. A Perioperative Registered Nurse may work in a variety of perioperative nursing roles including Pre-op, Intra-op, and post-op phases of care. The perioperative nurse uses both a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Responsibilities include assisting surgeons and the surgical team to care for the patient before, during, and after surgery. Surgical specialties include General Surgery, Pain Procedures, Gynecology, Obstetrics, Orthopedics, Podiatry, and Endoscopy.
Major Job Duties & Responsibilities
Promotes the mission, vision and values of the organization.
Assesses patients at intervals as stated in policies and procedures.
Develops an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.
Performs job duties in accordance with AORN Perioperative Job Descriptions and Competencies 2012 version.
Evaluates the patient’s progress toward attaining outcomes.
Transfers care as appropriate.
Delegates tasks as appropriate according to Montana Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
Documents nursing care accurately, completely and legibly.
Collaborates effectively with other disciplines as appropriate.
Participates in quality review and performance improvement projects.
Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information.
Uses problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.
Maintains required competencies: 1) Circulating all orthopedics, podiatry, eye procedures, general, OB/GYN, & dental procedures. 2) Scrubbing orthopedics, podiatry, eye procedures, general, OB/GYN, & dental procedures if requested. 3) Performs all job duties of pre-op & post-op patient care.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities
Basic computer knowledge .
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of nursing care principles, practices and procedures .
Knowledge of safety principles and infection control in the patient care environment.
Ability to assess patient’s needs and coordinate appropriate nursing care.
Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
Ability to develop perioperative patient plan of care.
Knowledge of AORN and Montana Nurse Practice Act.
Possess problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
Experience
Five years perioperative nursing experience preferred.
Educational Requirements
BLS, ACLS, PALS & NRP (must obtain within 3 months of hire)
CNOR Preferred.
