Position : Fabrication Manager - Libby

Division: Operations

Department: Fabrication

Schedule: Full-Time

Reports To: Plant Operations Manager - Libby

The Fabrication Manager oversees the entire Fabrication department, managing Fabrication staff, and designating specific jobs and assignments to each team member.

Essential Functions / Responsibility:

  • Fabricate and weld metal and/or aluminum by applying the appropriate welding techniques at a high skill level.

  • Weld both metal and aluminum using MIG, TIG, spool gun, and push-pull.

  • Rely on experience and judgment to accomplish department goals.

  • Train/teach new employees Nomad’s Fabrication shop’s practices/procedures.

  • Effectively communicate with other departments to complete each job.

  • Ensure on-time schedule performance and delivery of Nomad products to meet company and client deadlines.

  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of this position.

  • Work closely with Quality Assurance Manager to ensure final products meet Nomad quality standards before shipment.

  • Work closely with Engineering to identify process improvements to facilitate improved build efficiency and quality.

  • Works closely with Supply Chain Management to ensure materials are properly inventoried and purchased inventory arrives on time to meet fabrication schedules.

  • Complete performance reviews of all direct reports.

  • Manage department scheduling.

    Basic Knowledge Desired:

  • Understand the significance of the Nomad Core Values and apply them.

  • Be knowledgeable about

  • machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

  • raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

  • Metric and Imperial Measurement Systems and how to calculate with them.

  • and be able to operate CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.

    Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear and is occasionally required to sit.

  • Position requires physical stamina necessary to work in awkward positions, standing up for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Anything heavier than 50 pounds will require two people to lift / carry.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish individual colors.

  • Position requires physical stamina necessary to work in awkward positions, standing up for long periods, bending, stooping, and lifting.

    Working Environment:

  • The work environment is a partially environmentally controlled indoor environment. Depending upon the time of year, temperatures can fluctuate between 60F and 100F but is typically around 70F. There are times when working outside will be required.

  • The employee may be subjected to noise levels, ranging from low volume to loud and will be required to wear provided safety hearing devices from time to time, which will be provided.

  • The employee will be exposed to a variety of household/commercial chemicals that will require the employee to follow company rules/regulations outlined by that SDS.

  • All Team Members must wear provided OSHA approved eye protection at all times in manufacturing areas. The employee will be required to wear provided safety eyewear throughout the performance of their duties.

    Qualifications & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED. Further education or an apprenticeship desired.

  • 5+ years of previous welding and metal fabrication experience, interpreting blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics and determining appropriate welding process.

  • 5+ years of experience and knowledge of MIG, TIG, spool gun, or push-pull welding applications.

  • Must have active welding certifications.

  • Excellent math skills and understanding of numerical data and how to take accurate measurements.
