Reports To: Plant Operations Manager - Libby

The Facilities and Safety Coordinator will collaborate and coordinate within Operations and under the general direction of Management, develops, implements, and manages Nomad GCS’s safety program. This position conducts safety inspections and training; reviews, evaluates, and analyzes work environments and designs programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, or ergonomic factors. This position also conducts inspections and enforces adherence to laws and regulations governing the health and safety of individuals.

Essential Functions / Responsibility:

Facilities:

  • Oversee building projects in relation to Nomad facilities (eg. development of Nomad buildings as they are brought up to regulation and production standards.

  • Collaborate with all departments on remodels and building construction.

  • Evaluate and maintain of office furniture, supplies, etc.

  • Work closely with property management to establish cost/ownership of repairs, existing projects, and potential facility upgrades.

  • Oversee and execute a monthly budget to accomplish Facility Maintenance requirements.

  • Collaborate and communicate with external contractors to improve and maintain Nomad facilities.

    Safety:

  • Chair the Libby facility Safety Committee.

  • Interface with People and Development on workplace injuries.

  • Collaborate with Management and employees to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.

  • Conduct safety training and education programs and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.

  • Coordinate “right-to-know” programs regarding hazardous chemicals and other substances.

  • Develop and maintain hygiene programs such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, etc.

  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.

  • Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, and safety equipment.

  • Effectively communicate with vendors when needed, such as regarding our first-aid supplies being replenished in our first-aid kits in both buildings, monthly.

  • Investigate and report to the Safety Committee and People and Development accidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.

  • Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance.

  • Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.

  • Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers’ health and safety.

  • Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.

  • Oversee SDS catalog.

  • Maintain a CDL.

  • Will be occasionally called upon to operate and Maintain Nomad’s Mobile Crane.

    Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, reach or operate objects, tools, or controls.

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and is occasionally required to sit.

  • At times, the employee will be required to work at heights up to 40-50 feet.

  • The employee must have the ability to work from heights on the ground floor up to 20’ from the ground on ladders or platforms of varying sizes.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

    Working Environment:

  • The current work environment is partially environmentally controlled indoor environment. Depending upon the time of year, working temperature can fluctuate between 60F and 100F, but typically is held around 70F.

  • The employee will be exposed to a variety of household/commercial chemicals which will require the Employee to follow company rules/regulations outlined by that chemical’s MSDS.

  • All team members must wear provided OSHA approved eye protection at all times on the Production Floor.

    Qualifications & Experience:

  • High level of knowledge related to safety and wellbeing in production, manufacturing, and/or construction-related industries.

  • Must possess and maintain a Crane Operators License issued by a credible organization.

  • Ability to apply laws and regulations to work environment to ensure safety.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • 2 + years of Industrial or Mechanical Engineering educational background preferred.
