Cabinet Peaks Medical Center is looking for an IT General Laborer to join our IT Department!
A hospital IT department general laborer will work within the hospital's IT department responsible for performing a variety of manual labor tasks, including moving and organizing computer equipment, assisting with cable installations, cleaning workspaces, and generally supporting the IT team in maintaining a functional IT infrastructure, often requiring physical strength and basic technical understanding to follow instructions regarding equipment handling and placement.
Major Job Duties & Responsibilities
Equipment handling: Moving, lifting, and transporting computer hardware (servers, workstations, peripherals) within the hospital facility.
Cable management: Assisting with the installation, labeling, and organization of network cables.
Physical setup: Setting up workstations, installing equipment racks, and organizing IT equipment in designated areas.
Clean-up and maintenance: Maintaining cleanliness of IT equipment and workspaces, including dust removal and basic cleaning tasks.
Inventory management: Assisting with inventory tracking of IT equipment, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
Delivery support: Receiving and unpacking new IT equipment, verifying deliveries against purchase orders.
Basic technical assistance: Following instructions to connect cables, power on devices, and troubleshoot minor hardware issues.
Physical labor tasks: Lifting heavy boxes, climbing ladders, maneuvering in tight spaces.
Required skills and qualifications:
Physical strength and stamina: Ability to lift and move heavy equipment regularly.
Basic technical understanding: Familiarity with computer components, cables, and network terminology.
Attention to detail: Ability to follow instructions carefully when handling sensitive equipment.
Organizational skills: Keeping workspaces clean and organized, maintaining proper inventory records.
Teamwork: Collaborating effectively with IT technicians and other staff members.
Basic hand tools proficiency: Ability to use basic tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, and cable ties.

Physical Abilities
Excellent physical strength and stamina to lift and move heavy equipment.Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity for handling delicate equipment.
Technical Skills
Basic understanding of IT hardware components (computers, servers, monitors, cables).
Ability to identify and label different types of cables.
Familiarity with basic safety procedures for handling electrical equipment.

Training & Development

Education Requirements
High School diploma or GED preferred.
Must have a current driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Schedule
Hours of work: Based on the needs of the department.
Must be flexible in availability to working hours; job may require OT without prior notice.
Applicant may be available to work call hours and to fulfill the duties as required.
