One Health Controller in Miles City, Montana

Applicant must live within driving distance to one of our clinics in Montana (Hardin, Ashland, Miles City, Glendive, Harlem/Chinook, or Lewistown) or Wyoming (Sheridan, Powell, Greybull, or Lovell). Some remote work may be possible.

POSITION SUMMARY: In partnership with the VP of Finance, the controller provides leadership and oversees One Health financial activities. Duties include, but are not necessarily limited to financial reporting, planning, budgeting, analyzing, and forecasting, and performing directly-related work as required.

COMPENSATION: $76,000.00-$80,00.00 DOE and Licensure

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time

Position Summary

Working on-site at any of our One Health locations, and sometimes remotely, you will successfully perform the following functions:

  1. Oversees the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements in accordance with both generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP) and healthcare (FQHC – federally qualified health care) standards.

  2. Manages the monthly and annual financial statement close process.

  3. Controls the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process.

  4. In conjunction with the VP of Finance, assists in maintenance of general ledgers, trial balances, subsidiary ledgers, financial statements, various financial reports, and other related financial information.

  5. Assists VP of Finance in maintaining effective accounting systems including, but not limited to, general ledger management, security of financial records and funds, cash management, cost control, management of payables and receivables, compliance with local, state, and federal funding/audit requirements, and preparation of required financial, utilization and audit reports.

  6. Monitors and analyzes operating results by program or service area, as assigned.

  7. Analyzes financial statement variance relative to internal benchmarks; supports One Health leadership in constructing the proper alignment of services with available resources.

  8. Assists VP of Finance in providing effective leadership, coaching, and oversight to the financial staff.

  9. Oversees the selection, training, activities, and supervision of assigned personnel within the finance group.

  10. Assists with the development of One Health’s strategic plan, including, but not limited to, establishing organizational financial goals and objectives.

  11. Develops and implements organization-wide financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.

  12. Assists in ensuring organization-wide compliance with established financial policies, procedures, and practices through means such as counseling, coaching, guidance, training, and negotiation.

  13. Assists in directing and coordinating programmatic and organizational budget development as well supporting departmental leadership’s understanding of and achievement of budgetary goals.

  14. Prepares financial forecast for both existing and new service lines.

  15. Together with other fiscal managers, serves as the organization’s primary contact with auditors, facilitates timely and thorough completion of annual independent audits, and ensure the auditors’ recommendations and requirements are implemented in a timely fashion.

  16. Serves as liaison with federal, regional, state, and local organizations for auditing and cost justification of funding sources.

  17. Adheres to all One Health Policies and Procedures.

  18. Participates in performance optimization and risk management activities as required.

  19. Cooperates and abides by all elements of One Health’s Compliance Program.

  20. Provides exceptional customer service and models the mission of One Health when interacting with internal and external stakeholders promoting a positive image for the health center.

  21. Performs other duties as assigned or required with or without prior notification.

    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certificates/Licenses:

    Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely-related field

  • Valid driver’s license

    Preferred

  • MBA

  • CPA

    Experience:

    Required

  • Five (5) years’ fiscal management

  • Three (3) years in a supervisory role

  • Proficiency in accounting software

    Preferred

  • Three (3) years in a healthcare organization

  • Experience working with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)

  • Proficiency in GAAP
