AEM - HEAD START Health Coordinator in MILES CITY, Montana
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably related to one or more of the disciplines they oversee, or ability to obtain credential within required timeframe from date of hire
- Ability to meet ALL Montana Childcare Licensing Rules and Regulations for administrative and teaching staff
- Ability to maintain a current 1st Aid and CPR certificate
- Valid Drivers License and ability to be listed on company insurance for use of personal vehicle for work related purposes
- Have personal vehicle and freedom to travel as required by Head Start duties and/or training
- Working knowledge of the Head Start Program Performance Standards and other federal, tribal, state, and local requirements regarding health and safety in early care and education
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents in a diverse community
- Ability to work successfully in a multi-tasking environment subject to constant changes in priorities based on client need and/or needs of the program
- Ability to demonstrate responsive program management and leadership practices (e.g., collaboration, communication, meeting facilitation)
- Ability to travel regularly to all centers for ongoing monitoring and implementation of systems and services
- Prior experience working in Head Start or a health and human services related field preferred
- Prior experience working and/or coordinating services for young children and families preferred
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Maintain a Health Services Advisory Committee that includes engaged Head Start families, health professionals, program staff and other community volunteers
- Collect, analyze and maintain required data for child files and Child Plus for record keeping and reporting, including the Head Start Program Information Report
- Know current pediatric periodicity schedules, dental periodicity schedules, and immunization recommendations and requirements, and understand screening, assessment and examination results
- In collaboration with the program's mental health consultant and families, promote children's social and emotional well-being, assess risk and make appropriate referrals for children and families with mental health concerns
- Know about food safety and sanitation practices (e.g., food preparation, cross-contamination, temperatures, and storage)
- Be familiar with individual child and adult nutritional needs, preferences and special dietary requirements for children (e.g., food allergy/ intolerance, portion size, BMI)
- Use Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines to support cook staff in providing nutritious family style meals to all students
- Demonstrate knowledge of infection control procedures to include identification of potential risks and prevention strategies
- Demonstrate safe methods that meet state and tribal requirements of administering medications, including consent, handling, labeling, storing, disposing and recognizing possible side effects
- Maintain health and safety of Head Start children and staff by practicing active supervision
- Ensure all staff are trained on policies and procedures related to active supervision
Full-time, seasonal position. Work is 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
$22.04 per hour and up, depending on experience. Benefits include: paid vacation, sick leave, 401K and health insurance.
