Intermountain Health Registered Nurse Operating Room in Miles City, Montana

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

  • Uses nursing diagnoses to identify nursing interventions.

  • Uses current trends and evidence-based practices in the planning process

  • Collaborates with the patient and designated support person while planning care

  • Creates a plan of care that supports continuity among providers

  • Communicates with physician to ensure coordination of medical and nursing plan of care.

  • Specifies a logical sequence of interventions to attain expected outcomes

  • Documents plan of care and communication (i.e: Pre-op instructions, testing, discharge instructions)clearly to patient and caregiver.

  • Able to assume the responsibility of SDS department independently.

  • Assembles patient's chart and verifies that permits, authorizations, releases, and other required forms are completed.

  • Requests and arranges for ordered diagnostic/therapeutic services. Prepares

  • patients undergoing special procedures/treatments. Documents patient response to same.

  • Initiates, administers, and discontinues all medications, parental fluids and blood products per policy.

  • Documents medications, treatments and patient reaction/response.

  • ●Manages medications, scans all drungs, uses OmniCell according to policy.

  • Reportsdiscrepancies or drug errors immediately according to policy.

  • Initiates and documents information for patients transferred to another unit or facility.

  • Reviews schedule and coordinates patient arrival time and flow

  • Admits and orients new patient and their family. Checks patient identification,

  • physician's orders, preadmission and transfer information as appropriate. Completes anddocuments nursing assessment.

  • Develops and documents patient plan of care in consultation with physician. Updates plan of care.

  • Notifies physician or appropriate personnel of significant changes in patient's

  • response to treatment, care of disease process.

  • Recognizes emergencies and responds with proper protocol. Responds to unexpected situations in SDS/PAR in a proper and timely manner.

  • Observes patients in Recovery Room and evaluates conditions using the PASS scoring system.

  • ASN from an accredited program; BSN, preferred

  • Current Montana RN license

  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association

  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire

  • PALS certification within 6 months of hire

  • One year of nursing experience in a comparable setting, preferred

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$33.09 - $49.56
