Assists MCDF command staff as requested or assigned.REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK: Schedules family, public or attorney visits with inmates according to Facility Visitation Schedule. Collects demographic information from prospective visitors by phone or in person; updates computer records on planned visitors prior to scheduling visits. Generates daily visit schedules. Receives visitors and verifies visitor identification. Updates records of visitor activity in computer records, ex: visit completed, canceled, no show. Facilitates video visitation, scheduled on-line, for either home video visit or in facility video visits; monitors video visits on video screens at the reception desk. Monitors visiting area from the secure reception desk to ensure security and order are maintained. Contacts Master Control officers to request assistance with security for visiting area or to report problems. Accepts, receipts and records money brought in for deposit during visits or received in the mail for inmate accounts. Enters inmate information into computer records including inmate co-pays; inmate appointments; library charges; or other statistical information. Processes incoming and outgoing inmate mail. Screens inmate mail for contraband and unauthorized correspondence; separates illegal, unapproved or questionable items for review by a Unit Manager. Processes copies of print material for inmates as requested and enters charges against inmate’s accounts. Reviews Outside Medical Bills to determine custody at the time of Service. Prints and sends inmate intake questionnaires to contracted Correctional Health Partners. Prepare Dental Packets for inmates scheduled for Dental care. Enters mental health notes from providers into inmate records. Maintains department files and records. Prepares inmate release records for electronic storage and scans documents. Receives and screens telephone calls and visitors. Answers inquiries from the public and employees. Picks up and disseminates daily office mail and other information. May schedule special events. OTHER DUTIES: Serves as a backup for processing the department’s timesheets and payroll data. Provides back up to perform room and board billing. Issues department ID keycards. Provides back up for Commissary as needed. Provides back up for work program, receives commitments from the courts ordering participation in the Work Program; schedules days for work, provides feedback to courts; maintains records. Provides back up to confirm access by and verify identification of Sunday religious group facilitators. Performs related work as required or directedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires High School graduation or GED. Requires three years of increasingly responsible administrative support work that included direct contact with the public in person and on the phone. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Successful candidate must pass an extensive background investigation. PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Work is performed in a secure detention facility within a workspace secure from direct inmate or public contact. The work involves a considerable amount of time using a computer keyboard. May require occasional light lifting (up to 20#).
