Job Title: After-School Counselor (Asst. Teacher)
Status: part time
Hours: M-F 2:30-6, earlier on Thursday
Wage: $14.45-15.83/hr dep. on experience
Probation: Subject to a 12 month introductory (probationary) period
UM Students: The Missoula Y is an approved work-study employer for work-study aid
POSITION SUMMARY:The Missoula Family Y is hiring after school counselors! If you are friendly, creative and reliable, and want to make a difference in kids' lives this could be a great fit for you. The hours are Monday-Friday, 2:30-6pm, earlier on Thursday, at least three (3) shifts per week.The After School Counselor I is enthusiastic and creates a safe, fun environment for children ages 5 years through 12 and will teach and model YMCA character values and sportsmanship. Under the guidance of the School Age Assoc. Director and onsite lead counselors, the After School Counselor I is responsible for providing and implementing a high quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum in specific program areas, ensuring children’s social, physical, spiritual and mental development in the program. Applicants must like working with children, be self-motivated, good communicators. They must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization and work with general supervision.

Requirements
Required – Must have current CPR and First Aid certificates or obtain them within first 60 days of employment
Preferred – High School diploma or equivalent, or combination of education and experience
Required – Evidence of current tetanus shot and current MMR
Preferred - Experience with working with children
Prefered- Valid MT driver's license with insurable drivers record – required to drive Y vehicles
