Job Title: After School Site Lead

Status: part time

Hours: M-F, 2:30-6:00pm, earlier on Thursday

Wage: $13.00-15.55/hr depends on experience

Probation: Subject to the Montana 12-month introductory (probationary) period

UM Students: The Missoula Y is an approved work-study employer for students with work study aid

POSITION SUMMARY:The Missoula Family Y is hiring After School Site Leads.The hours are Monday-Friday, 2:30-6pm, earlier on Thursday, for at least three (3) shifts per week. Site Leads are responsible for the well being, health, and safety of all students under their care, as well as overseeing the smooth operation of their assigned after school sites, and will be viewed as a primary point of contact within any given site they are working in. This includes leading activities and games, creating a positive culture, conflict resolution, communicating site needs to the Associate Director or coordinator, and more. Site Leads must be comfortable working with school age children, other counselors, and communicating clearly with parents/guardians and supervisors. Y-Site Leads are viewed as healthy role models in program and in the community, and should always model the Y core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Site Leads must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit and community service organization, and have the flexibility to work in a constantly changing environment.Applicants must like working with children, be self-motivated, good communicators, and be able to thrive in an enviironment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization. Works with limited supervision.

  • Preferred – High school diploma or equivalent

  • Preferred – Secondary education classes focused on Elementary Education, Developmental Psychology or a related field


  • Required – Certification in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Training – can be obtained at the YMCA

  • Required – Experience with working with children

  • Required – Prior experience working in camps, other YMCA departments, or a classroom setting

  • Prefered- Valid MT driver's license with insurable drivers record – required to drive Y vehicles.
